18: Mission in Nigeria

~Six Months~
Lagos, Nigeria

I stood at a fruit stand on the busy street occasionally picking and apple and giving the person money, I'd casually look over my shoulder at Wanda and Natasha who sat at two tables drinking coffee. This was my second mission in the last few months.
I scanned the area looking for anyone suspicious people. I began to walk down the busy street as not to draw attention to myself, every so often looking over my shoulder.
We had learned that former HYDRA sleeper agent Brock Rumlow, who now calls himself "Crossbones" plans to steal a biological chemical weapon from the Institute for Infectious Diseases.
"All right what do you see?" Steve said over comms.
"Standard beat cops, small station." Wanda so said looking around casually.
"Its a quiet street, good target there's an ATM on the south corner where I am, I spot cameras." I said quietly to myself not drawing any attention to myself in the process.
"Both cross streets are one way," Steve said to no one in particular.
"So compromised escape routes," I said stopping at the corner, and looking at the people passing by sometimes smiling at the pedestrians as they walked by.
"Which means, our guy doesn't care about being seen, he isn't afraid to make a mess on the way out, you see that range over halfway up the block?" Steve said, I turned my attention to a red car.
"Red one, it's cute." Wanda said.
"It's also bullet proof which means private security which means more guns which means more headaches for somebody, probably us." Natasha said cutting off Wanda.
"You guys know Lizzy and I can move things with our minds right?" Wanda said.
"Looking over your shoulder needs to become second nature." Natasha said.
"Anybody ever tell you you're a little paranoid?" Sam said with a light laugh in his voice.
"Not to my face, why did you hear something?" Natasha said making me laugh a little.
"Eyes on target folks, this is the best we've had on him in six months I don't want to lose him." Steve said cutting them off.
"If he sees this coming there won't be a problem he kind of hates us." Sam said to Steve. There was silence for almost a minute when I saw a large garbage truck drive by honking at the traffic, I looked at it curiously I was about to say something when Steve talked again.
"Sam, Lizzy, that garbage truck take it." Steve said.
I started to walk in the direction it was going trying not to walk to fast to cause suspicion I looked to see Sam's little drone flying under the truck.
"Give me x-ray." He said signaling the drone. "That trucks loaded from max weight the drivers armed." He said.
"Its a battering ram." Natasha said.
"Go now." Steve said.
"What?" Wanda said confused.
"He's not hitting the police." Steve said.
The truck starting to speed up as it head straight toward the Institute for Infectious Diseases. I began to run after it, dodging people as I neared the truck.
"Get out of here! Go!" I yelled as people passed by.
Suddenly the driver jumped out of the car, and in a matter of seconds the car flipped, I gathered the darkness quickly catching the truck before it fell on the guards I placed it down gently. While that happened another trucks doors flew open and armed men came out shooting at the people around, I lifted myself in the air quickly and landed in front of them as they shot smoke grenades inside the building. They began to shoot at me, but I quickly put up a barrier between me and them, i ran and jumped over the barrier wrapping my legs around the mans neck while putting my arms around another guys neck bringing them down. All of a sudden Steve and Sam showed up fighting as well. A few minutes later so did Wanda. I gathered my darkness throwing the men in various directions while also shooting a few. Wanda helped Steve up into the building, I created another barrier between her and the men.
"Thanks Lizzy." She said while taking out a few men.
As I took out a couple more men I heard a gun fired off right in back of me, I turned around quickly stopping the bullet but was surprised by Natasha who took out a couple men.
"Wanda get the gas out!" Steve said over comms.
"Lizzy cover me!" She said as she faced the building. I made a barrier quickly shielding her from the rapid fire shooting at her. She eventually got the gas out pushing it up in the air.
Steve was still in the air when Crossbones started shooting grenades at him. I quickly used the darkness to push Crossbones in the air knowing I didn't kill him but lifting myself in the air to go to Steve's aid.
He lay in the roof.
"Are you okay?" I asked landing beside him helping him up.
"Yeah, but we need to go after him they got the chemical." He said picking up his shield. I nodded lifting myself in the air, landing next to Wanda who was surrounded by the men. When my feet hit the ground the darkness pushed the men back, Wanda turned and smiled. All of a sudden there was an explosion in the air, and Steve's shield fell from the sky. Wanda and I exchanged glances as we both held onto the armed men with our mist like powers.
"Go! I can handle this!" I said holding back three men. Wanda nodded and ran off in the direction of the main fight. I turned my attention to the armed men releasing them from the darknesses grasp and running towards them. I quickly kicked one guy in the face knocking him to the ground. I swung at another guy but he caught my arm before it reached his jaw, he smirked about say something but I quickly cut him off, as I stepped on his knee using it to get my legs around his neck bringing him to the ground. There were now two men left one started to run away but I gathered the darkness around him holding him in his position, while I kicked the one guy left in the stomach and groin, he swung his fist at me but I dodged it, then I pulled the tow guys together making them crash into each other making them unconscious. I smiled at my work, I looked around at the people, rushing over to some of them making sure they were okay. I moved them out of the area. I was about to speak on comms, when suddenly a huge explosion pierced the air. I turned to see the building on fire behind me.
"Oh no." Was all I could say. I quickly ran to the building. When I arrived Wanda had her hand over her mouth and pain in her eyes. Steve stared at the building.

"Sam, we need fire and rescue. On the south side of the building!" Steve said. I looked at Wanda who had guilt over her face. I rushed to her and pulled her into a hug, whispering to her as she cried.
"It's okay. It's okay." Was all I said over and over. I looked around at all the people who ran from the scene. I knew this wasn't going to be good, that familiar feeling I had felt when I put those thoughts in Bruce's head way back in Wakanda I felt now, the feeling of inevitable pain and difficulties to come.
