38: Going Home

Peter POV:

I quickly changed out of my suit and into regular clothing, sticking my suit into my backpack, I then left the public bathroom and went outside to the front of the monument where everyone was being questioned by reporters.
"Peter! Where have you been?" Mr. Harrington said startling me.
"I'm sorry Mr. Harrington. I uh- couldn't sleep last night, I was so nervous for the Decathlon so I went to walk around and I lost track of time." I said hoping my lie sounded believable, Mr. Harrington sighed and looked at me like he was about to give me a lecture.
"Don't let it happen again." he said then walked away. I sighed relieved that i was let off easy.
"Peter!" Ned said running towards me and giving me a hug. "Dude you were awesome!" I shushed him and we both laughed.
"Where's Lizzy?" I asked looking around.
"She's talking to one of the reporters over there." Ned said pointing. I looked at where he was pointing and I saw her, she wore a smile on her face as she talked to the reporter, how could someone be so beautiful without even trying.

Elizabeth POV:

"What can you say about this Spiderman?" The reporter asked.
"He's a hero. He saved my life and I'm just glad he was there to save us." I said with a smile on my face.
"Well thank you so much." The reporter said then began to walk away. I then looked around spotting everyone surrounding Peter, probably asking where he was or telling him what had happened. I walked towards the group and saw Peter who looked nervous. Soon the group slowly cleared and I walked up to him. He smiled and I pulled him into a hug.
"Thank you." I whispered as we were still hugging. We then parted and he had a huge smile on his face making me blush.
"I'm glad your okay." he said flashing another grin.
"I was so worried about you, what happened?" I asked making sure to keep my voice down.
"It's a long story, I'll tell you later."
"Hey everyone we're going home early and we're leaving today. So when we arrive at the hotel please gather your things and meet at the bus." Mr. Harrington spoke, he then began to walk back to the hotel.
Once back at the hotel Michelle and I went to our room. We began putting our things in our bags.
"So Spiderman saved you?" Michelle spoke while folding clothes and sticking them in her bag.
"Yeah, well me as well as everyone else in the elevator." I said not really knowing where this conversation was going.
"Liz said he stared at you, and he spoke in a different way to you, almost like he cared for you." Michelle said, I looked up and she gave me a smirk.
"He cares about everyone, and he didn't stare he was just making sure I along with everyone else was okay. Why?" I said getting a little nervous hoping she wouldn't suspect I knew who was behind the mask.
"Well I mean I wasn't up there with you all, but by the way Liz described it, it seems like Spiderman might've taken a liking to you or even knew who you were." She said, zipping up her bag and placing it over her shoulder. I stood for a moment not really knowing how go about getting out of this conversation.
"I don't know who he is, and he definitely did not take a liking to me, he was just being a good guy." I said making sure my tone was not suspicious. I then zipped up my bag and slung it over my shoulder.
"Okay, if you say so." she said giving me a smirk. I rolled my eyes and laughed and we began to walk out of the room. "Hey wanna sit next to me on the bus?"
"Yeah!" I said excited to sit next to her. I was really glad I went on this trip, and that I had gotten close to Michelle who I really ended up liking.
Once we got down to the bus Michelle and I got in and put our bags in an empty seat towards the back of the bus then sat in a seat across from Peter and Ned. All four of us then talked the whole trip home. It was now almost midnight and we arrived at the school, where everyone's parents waited for us. We all grabbed our bags and got off the bus everyone going to a parent or guardian, all being showered with kisses and hugs. Michelle, Ned, Peter and I all got off the bus last. Michelle and I hugged before she went to her parents, Peter and I hugged Ned then he went to his parents. Peter looked at me, he seemed to ponder over whether or not he should hug me goodbye but I saved him the stress and pulled him into a hug.
"I'll see you at school." I said as we parted, he gave me a smile and then walked to May, who hugged him tightly. I looked around and saw Happy, who waited nervously looking around for me. I began to walk towards him and he spotted me, a smile spread across his face. Once I got to him he gave me a big hug.
"Thank god you're safe, Tony and I were worried." He said as we walked to the car.
"You guys had no need to be worried, Peter was there and remember powers." I said giving him a smile, he sighed and laughed.
"We can still worry. Who knew Decathlon's could be so dangerous." he said making me me laugh.
"They're not dangerous. But I am ready to get home." I said as we got in the car.
"Tony's back by the way. He's anxious to see you." Happy said making me smile I was excited to see Tony who I had not seen in over a week, I had missed him.
The whole drive home, Happy and I sang our hearts out to a number of songs. Once home I spotted Tony who waited in the drive way. I got out of the car and hugged him tightly. When we parted he gave a smile.
"Glad you're safe." he said as we began to walk inside the Avengers compound.
"There was no need to worry, Peter was there to help, and if I needed to, i could've used my abilities."
"Well, whether you like it or not I'm going to worry about you. I want you to be happy and away from danger, these years have been tough for you and I don't want them to get any harder. Your brother, sister, Steve, basically everyone wants you to have a shot at a somewhat normal life, and I want to make sure i provide with that." He said as we walked inside, and head into the kitchen. With the mention of my brother, sister, and Steve there was a sting in my heart.
"I know, but I enjoy using my abilities, and I enjoy fighting for people and helping them. Will I ever get to go on a mission again?" I asked sitting at the counter of the kitchen as he got a glass of water.
"The thing about going on missions is if someone sees you or gets a photo of you using your powers you will never be able to go out in public without being recognized." He said taking a drink from the glass of water.
"Well, what if I had a mask, then I could go on missions and still go to school, still have a somewhat normal life, that's what Peter does." Tony was quiet for a moment thinking about my suggestion, he sighed placing his glass of water down on the counter as I waited for his reply eagerly.
"Okay," he said making me cheer, as I got up and gave him a hug. "You were in need of a suit upgrade, so I guess I'll include a mask, it won't be done for a few weeks so don't do anything until then." I gave him another hug and he laughed. "Go to bed, you've got to be tired." I nodded and began to walk out of the kitchen, I then stopped and turned around and smiled at him again.
"Thank you, for everything."
"Goodnight kid." He said smiling.
As I got ready for bed, excitement filled me as I thought of Peter and I going on missions together or even solo missions.
As I lay in my bed, my eyes heavy, I looked at a picture of Wanda, Pietro and I, that sat on my bed side table, a smile on my face. There was nothing more I wanted to do then give them a hug and tell them all about my experiences since i've seen them, I wanted to tell them about my first test at school and how I aced it or how I already made friends who I already care deeply about. I imagined telling Wanda about Peter and Pietro overhearing and getting all protective like he always did. I wanted to teach Pietro things I learned at school or just sit down and watch movies with him while he asked thousands of questions that I couldn't possibly answer. I want Wanda to help me get ready for Homecoming, by helping me pick out a dress and doing my makeup, and Her and Pietro meeting Peter; they would love him. All these wishes and dreams flowed through my mind as I drifted into a peaceful sleep.
