I stood in the kitchen listening to the news, words of hate towards my sister and I due to the accident that had happened in Nigeria. I drank my glass of water then placed it in the sink I walked to the room with the television to see Steve watching it. He turned hearing me come in and turned it off. I still heard the news playing in a distant room. I sighed knowing it was Wanda watching it. Steve and I walked to her room to see her watching the television.
"What legal authority does Wanda and Elizabeth Maximoff have to operate in Nigeria." The news broadcaster said. I looked down not wanting to hear anymore. Steve picked up the remote to turn it off.
"It's my fault." Wanda said quietly, resting her head on her hand.
"That's not true." I said walking in and sitting next to her on the bed.
"Then turn the TV back on, they're being very specific." She said, turning to look at me. I looked at Steve as he leaned against the door frame.
"I should've clocked the bomb vest long before you had to deal with it. Rumlow said Bucky and all of a sudden I was a 16-year old kid again, in Brooklyn." Steve said sitting in between Wanda and I. "and people died. It's on me." He said looking down, I put my hand on his shoulder, feeling hurt by his guilt and loss.
"It's on both of us." Wanda said looking at him. I turned to her and grabbing her hand.
"This job... we try to save as many people as we can. Sometimes that doesn't mean everybody." Steve said making me think of Wakanda, I looked away from them. "But if we can't find a way to live with that, then next time, maybe nobody gets saved."
All of a sudden Vision fazed through the wall.
"Vis! We talked about this!" Wanda said.
"Yes But the door was open so I assumed that- Captain Rodgers wished to know when Mr Stark was arriving." Vision said making me smile, I turned to Wanda who watched him I could feel her feelings towards him, they had been growing close lately.
"Thank you. We'll be right down." Steve said nodding.
"I'll use the door." Vision said walking to the open door. "Oh and apparently, he's brought a guest." Vision said turning back to look at all of us.
"Do we know who it is?" Steve asked.
"The Secretary of State." Vision said before leaving. I immediately felt fear and uneasiness run through me. It was nothing good that the Secretary of State was her right after Nigeria. Steve turned around looking at Wanda and I, I immediately looked away as not to show my fear. I fiddled with my necklace trying to calm my nerves.
They would never let them take us. They would protect us.
I said to myself trying desperately to convince myself.
"Well, let's go down and see what is going on." Wanda said breaking the silence in the room, standing up and walking out of the room. Steve stood up leaving only me on the bed. He turned to me sensing my uneasiness.
"Hey, are you okay Lizzy?" He asked, bending down to my eye level. I looked up at him, and smiled nodding my head then standing up. He gave me a reluctant smile knowing I was not fine but didn't push it, and left the room leaving me alone. I stood there thinking of what was to come, what was to happen with my sister and I. I opened my locket taking a look at the pictures inside and I smiled. I then took a deep breath and walked out of the room to the meeting room.
