Taking a deep breathe I stare at the building in front of me. The first text I got off the plane was my brother, dads in hospital. you should come. Despite everything, fear overwhelmed me. There was no why, he didn't explain. Just the name of the hospital.

Alessio dropped me off exactly seventeen minutes ago. Yet, I stand in this same spot from when he said his goodbyes. Zara fidgets in my arms, restless and tired from the flight.

I didn't tell Micah where I was headed, few hours north and to my home town. The second the plane landed Micah went off ahead, saying he had a few jobs to check up on.

I wonder if Alessio will tell him.

While my mind builds up courage I walk closer to the hospital. The automatic doors open and I get whiff of the classical clean m hospital smell.

When I was seven I broke my arm while at the park with my brother and he had to carry me all the way here. Until he found a shopping on the side of the street and decided to push me instead.

I smile shutting my eyes. All those nights spent crying in the hospital over Zara wipe my smile away. "We got this," I look at Zara.

"Yap," She smiles, hugging her toy.

Walking up the the front reception area I tap my fingers nervously against the counter. "I- uhm. I'm here for Simon Arndale. I'm his- A family member."

"He isn't allowed to be seen by family or visitors just yet. I believe his wife and son are upstairs. Would you like to head up?"

"Yeh," I nod. "When is he allowed visitors?"

"His being prepped for his surgery. Which is usually three to six hours. With recovery time his should be good for visitors in a few days, it'll be best to limit them for his first few recovery days."

Nodding, I close my eyes. Maybe it isn't as bad as I thought. "What level?"

"Three," she smiles.

Mumbling a thank you I find the elevator and take it up to level three. When I step out, my brother is pacing in the waiting room, my mother is sitting down with her hands in her lap, she looks unwell and skinny.

"Aiden," I speak up.

He looks up, letting out a deep sigh. He moves to us, wrapping his arms around the two of us. I lean my head on his shoulder. "Thank god you're here," he pulls away, "and gosh I missed my favourite little niece."

"Only niece she has to be your favourite," I correct, smiling. "Remember uncle Aiden?"

Zara gives him a weird looking before wrapping her arms around my neck. I laugh, shaking my head, "she's just tired."

"What's wrong with him?" I ask. "I only got told heir prepping him for a surgery."

"His heart, I don't.. something blocking the blood passing through. He was going to have an operation anyway but it must have gotten bad and he had a heart attack."

"He looked so fine.. he came to visit me."

Aiden shakes his head, wrapping his arms around me again. "Despite everything it hurts so much," he whispers. "I don't know why, all they did was hate me, disown us because we weren't their perfect children anymore."

"Mummy," Zara groans, I feel her tiny body trying to stretch. My muscles are sore from lying in a in a small cramped two seat. "Mummy," Zara stresses.

"Zara," I whisper, lifting my arm.

"Mama, you squeeze me-," she stops, gasping. "Daddy! Oh, Daddy! Daddy! Daddy."

Then Zara is no longer in my arms. I shot up, for two reasons the fact she isn't safety under my arm and her word, daddy. Sitting up, my head instantly feels in pain. My eyes slowly come into focus.

Micah sits on the chair beside us, his arms crossed and eyes shut. He wears an outfit of complete black, jeans and a t-shirt with a long black coat beside him. Zara, climbing all over him wakes him up.

"Hey," he smiles. "Hey baby girl. I missed you."

"Mummy," Zara points at me, "sleep and-uh me wake up wh-with mummy arm uh..umm me see daddy."

He smiles kissing her nose, "you're crazy. I love you, even when you're hair is this huge mess."

"Micah," I speak up, sitting sideways on the seat, with my legs crossed so I can see him. I leave the single chair space between the both of us. "What?"

"I didn't want to wake you both."

"No- What are you doing?" I ask. "Here?"

"My father told me. I flew down, it was quicker than driving. When I got here you two were sleeping and now here we are."

Pressing my fingers into the side of my throbbing head I close me eyes. "You didn't need to come here."

Micah slides into the seat beside me, closing the gap that I left between us both. He faces my but makes sure Zara is comfortable Micah. She smiles looking up at Micah, her eyes full of love and happiness.

"But I did."

"But you did," I reply.

Micah nods, his eyes moving from my eyes to my lips, back to my eyes. He parts his lips slightly, taking a small breathe in. He didn't need to come here. But he did. His here. For me. And I can't deny the way that makes my heart feel for this man.
