Your POV!

Today is my 8th grade school dance and I am super excited but like nervous too.

I am going with my friend group. That consists of Jordan, Jamie, and Landon. Oh, did I mention that Landon is kind of my crush?

Well, he is so.... He hasn't asked anyone to the dance and he said he doesn't plan on it which is kind of good and bad at the same time.

Good because he won't be going with another girl that isn't myself. But also bad because he isn't  going with me!

Pushing those thoughts aside I walked into homeroom. I went to my seat and started playing on phone.

I got to school a little earlier than I usually do so I have some free time.

I heard others enter the classroom but I didn't bother to look up.

"Hey Claire!" I looked up and smiled, there is my crush standing in front of me, Landon!

"Hi! How's your day going so far?"

He sat down and said, "Decent, although it is only the beginning of the day! So not much has happened."

I nodded, "Got it, anyways are you ready for the dance tonight?"

He nodded and said, "Yeah, I picked up my suit last night and it is currently sitting on my bed."

I laughed, "You didn't even bother to hang it up?" He shook his head and leaned in to whisper to me, "Guess what?"

"What?"

"Guess!" I sighed, are you kidding me?! Just tell me!

"Um, you forgot the homework?"

He laughed, "No! I am thinking of dancing with someone special at the dance." I gasped, "Who!"

"I'm not telling you!" I glared at him, "What?! Not fair! You can't just say something like that and then not expect me to want to know who it is."

He smirked, "You'll find out later."

I sighed, I swear he is my crush but sometimes...

~Later in the day~

I was at my locker putting my stuff away when I noticed a bright pink sticky note.

It read:

Here's a hint- You know this girl very well.

What? Then it hit me, this has to be from Landon!

I looked around and saw Landon walking with Jamie and Jordan.

"Landon! Get over here!" I yelled.

He smiled and all three of them walked over. He smirked, "I see you got my note."

I nodded, "Uh, yeah. Can you stop being mean and tell me who you're going to dance with tonight!"

"Woah, what?" Jamie asked confused. "Yeah, this morning in homeroom, he said he was going to dance with someone at the dance but he refuses to tell me who!"

Jordan laughed, "Sucks for you!"

I looked at her confused, "What does that mean?"

"He told us who it was remember?" She said to Jamie.

"Oh yeah! We can't tell you!" Jamie remembered.

"Ugh, all three of you are so mean to me!"

I closed my locker and walked to my next class. The day dragged on and Landon and I have musical theatre together and he wouldn't tell me then either.

Finally it was time to go home! I went home and started getting ready for the dance.

~After getting ready~

I looked at myself in the mirror one last time and I was finally ready to go to the dance.

And just like that, I was off to the dance!

~At school~

I walked into the where the dance was being held and I was quite amazed.

It looked really good! The dance comity really got their stuff together!

I looked around the room and finally spotted one of my friends.

Jamie was standing all by himself waiting for the others to arrive.

I walked over to him and he smiled, "Claire! You look absolutely stunning!"

I smiled, "Thanks! And you too, you clean up very well!"

We started talking and finally Landon and Jordan came over.

"Claire, woah. Just wow." Landon said, maybe I was hallucinating, but I swear he looks a little star struck!

"Thanks? I think." I laughed.

He laughed, "It's a great thing, you look absolutely fantastic and gorgeous."

I smiled and thanked him.

We just started talking and then a slow song came on.

"Do you want to know who I'm going to dance with tonight?"

I nodded, nervously waiting an answer.

"Well she is beautiful, and is so adorable! She and I are great friend and what I'm about to do might ruin our relationship but I don't want that to happen. The girl I want to dance with is standing right in front of me. It's you Claire."

I stood their dumbfounded and I looked over at Jamie and Jordan to see them aweing at the situation and they were even videotaping the moment!

"Um, wow. I would love you dance with you."

He smiled and led me to the dance floor.

We started slow dancing and he said, "You know, I've liked you for a really long time and I just needed the perfect moment to tell you. Do you think we can maybe go on a proper date sometime?"

I smiled, "Of course!"

And the rest was history...
