jonah's pov:

i don't know why, but while brooke and i were heading upstairs, i held her hand.

for some reason, her hand was really cold. but, it started to warm up. her hand fit perfectly in mine, and i could tell she was blushing.

brooke and i let go of each other, and then i asked, "are you sure you're going to be okay?"

"i think i'll manage," brooke sighed.

i gave her a small smile, and we both closed the doors to our individual rooms.

-

after about fifteen minutes, i was woken up to crying. i got out of my bed, and put my ear next to brooke's door.

it was coming from her room.

"brooke?" i asked, knocking.

the crying instantly stopped, but i could tell she was pretending to be asleep.

"i know you're not sleeping," i lightly chuckled.

"okay, fine, you got me," brooke whined, sniffling.

"why are you crying?" i asked, taking a seat on her bed.

"i don't know, i just thought of that room again. the room showed my worst nightmare," brooke explained, putting her head down.

"don't cry. i hate seeing you sad," i said.

i lifted her head up with my hand, and we made direct eye contact. her eyes were a bit red and puffy, but she was still one of the most beautiful people i've ever seen. i wiped one of her tears, and brought her into a hug.

"i don't know, i'm just kind of paranoid because of everything that happened. i know it was all a trance, but i'm still in that shock, you know what i mean?" brooke ranted.

i let out a small laugh. one of my favorite things about brooke is how she can pick up a good conversation. i love conversations, and brooke is just an amazing person to talk to.

"yeah, i get what you mean," i agreed.

"hey, do you think you can stay for a bit? you know, just until i'm asleep," brooke inquired.

"yeah, of course," i said.

"you know, since you're the talented jonah marais, can you sing?" brooke questioned.

"sing? like, sing you to sleep?" i asked.

"yeah, kind of. whenever i had anxiety attacks, daniel would always calm me down my singing to me," brooke explained, brushing out a few locks of hair from her face.

"hmm, what song should i sing?" i inquired.

"in too deep," brooke requested.

"alright, good choice," i agreed.

i sat in a more comfortable position.

"used to be scared of the ocean, 'cause i didn't know how to swim. i took one sip of your potion, now i'm just divin' right in," i sang.

brooke started looking sleepy.

"i heard your siren's call, it was beautiful. i am drowning, but please don't save me," i continued.

by now, brooke's eyes were immediately shut. when i finished singing, i lightly stroke brooke's cheek. she always looks so peaceful when she's asleep.

then, i turned off her lamp, closed the door, and went back to bed in my room.
