brooke's pov:

i sighed, and looked at my clock.

11:38 a.m.

i told myself i would start my summer reading by noon, but i really don't feel like doing it. i have to read a 500 page novel and i'm not excited.

after a few minutes, i somehow gained the strength to get out of bed. i headed over to my desk, picked up the book, and flipped to the first page.

-

it was now 12:17 p.m., and jonah walked in my room, "we're going to chipotle for lunch, do you want to come?"

"no thanks, i have a lot of summer reading. do you think you can get me a burrito?" i asked.

"sure," jonah replied, pulling out his phone.

he started texting someone.

"who are you texting?" i inquired.

jonah looked up from his phone, "i just texted daniel that we're staying behind, and i sent him our orders."

"what do you mean by we're," i questioned.

"there's no way i'm going to leave you by yourself," jonah answered.

"jonah, it's fine. i've been living her for a few weeks, and i'm totally okay with being alone," i denied.

"nope, i'm keeping you company," jonah declared.

"suit yourself, i'm just going to be silent reading," i said, returning back to my book.

then, all of the guys came up to my room.

"um, is there supposed to be some kind of family gathering in my room?" i asked.

"nope, but daniel was coming upstairs, so we just followed," jack replied, weirdly in a cheerful tone.

"are you two staying here?" daniel quizzed.

"yeah, is that a problem?" jonah asked.

"well, not really. just don't do anything stupid," daniel declared.

"dani, i'm just going to do my summer reading," i said, rolling my eyes.

"yeah, you better not be doing anything else, brooke," zach chuckled, nudging at jack and corbyn.

"you immature swine," corbyn whispered, playfully punching zach.

"can we just go to chipotle? i'm starving," jack whined, jumping up and down like an anxious little kid.

"okay, fine, but we'll be back as soon as possible," daniel declared, finally walking out of my room.

jack, corbyn, and zach followed him.

"good riddance," i said.

jonah took a seat on my bed, while i continued to read. him being in the room distracted me.

"are you just going to sit there and watch me read my book?" i inquired, laughing.

"you see, i can either keep you company or take a quiz on which why don't we member should be my valentine. but, no, i'm keeping you company," jonah sarcastically said.

"wow, that's a good way to spend your day," i replied.

"don't act like you've never taken one of those quizzes," jonah mentioned.

he wasn't wrong, in fact, i've probably taken every quiz possible.

"psssh, no, i'm not a creep," i lied.

jonah let out a small laugh, and started to look around my room. i returned to my book, and tried not to get distracted by him.

every now and then, i noticed that i'd be taking glimpses at jonah. one time, we accidentally made eye contact and burst into laughter.

well, i only managed to get up to page twenty, just because jonah was distracting me.
