24. Love

After I was done changing I found my way to the kitchen. I thought maybe I could help Miss Minjee with the work around here. Anyway, I'm staying at her place. I don't want to come out as a burden for anybody here.

I slid the kitchen door open to find Miss Minjee chopping some vegetables.

"Hyung Jae? Is something wrong dear?"

I shook my head.

"Just wanted to help you in here" I grinned.

"Aah thank you so much for your concern but it's okay....You should rest, you must be tired..." She softly smiled.

"Nah....I'm Good....Now what do I do to help you with Miss Minjee?" I ask grinning to myself.

She slowly shook her head with a smile. "You stubborn girl...Okay cut the vegetables I guess, I'll prepare water for the soup" she laughed.

"Okay..." I said as she passed the chopping board loaded with a carrot and a knife.

She walked away to the heat water.

Um.....how do you chop vegetables?

I picked up the knife with unsteady hands.

And took the carrot.

How do I do this?

I put the carrot back on the board and tried to gently dig the knife into it....(?)

After a while, Miss Minjee came back.

I'm embarrassed.

"Aah Child, that's not how you do it....let me show you" She softly said and guided my hands.

Wow...I expected her to scold me.

I look at her shocked.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" She laughed as she noticed me staring.

I looked away immediately, looking downwards.

"It's- just that I expected you to scold me" I murmured as she let goes of my hand and I start chopping the carrot myself. It was pretty easy now. Can't believe that I was having trouble doing this.

"Scold you? Why should I? It's not your fault that they don't teach how to chop vegetables in a palace"

"Pa- Palace? What Palace Miss Minjee? What are you talking about?" I tried laughing it off but stopped when she shook her head looking down and chuckling.

"Child the way you talk, the way you walk, the way you respond, your manners and the way you handle yourself screams royalty. I've seen life and I know what people are like" she giggled.

I looked away still trying to form an answer and that's when I heard the door open.

I looked at Jungkook who had entered right now with a smile.

"Wh- What's up?" he asked as he looked around the place.

I was looked down at the chopping board.

This wasn't how all this was planned. I was shook.

"Lun- Lunch?" He asked as I saw Miss Minjee nod from the corner of my eye.

"Oh...Th- That's ni- nice! I'm s- starving! Wh- What wer- were y- you both talk- talking ab- about thou- though?" He nervously chuckled looking at me.
