"I noticed that I did not do the implied get-to-know-you activities on the first day of school and in this whole week. That is what you will be doing today for a classwork grade. I am handing the papers out right now and it's pretty self-explanatory. Instead of answering these questions individually, you will be working with your partner and asking them the provided questions. This way, you all will get to know each other and I'll still get to know all of you. This is due at the end of class." Ms. Harper informed us, going back to her desk once she was finished passing out the papers.
Once I got mine, I turned to face Isaac who was just staring at the paper.
"Um, are you good?" I ask him.
"Hm?" He looks at me. "Oh. Yeah, I'm fine. Let's do this."
"Do you want to go first or...?"
"Doesn't matter. We can just do it at the same time. You ask a question, I answer, and then you give me your answer for it."
I nod, and begin to ask the questions.
"Favorite movie?"
He doesn't answer right away and seems to be going through all the movies he's seen in his head.
"Love, Rosie. You?"
"Really?"
"Yeah." He says dead serious.
"Mine's The Corpse Bride."
He doesn't say anything and writes down my response.
"If you could be anyone for a day, who would you be?"
"No one." He says almost immediately.
"How come?"
"I wouldn't want to accidentally mess something up in their life, no matter how small it may be."
I write it down.
We continue to ask each other questions like this up until the class was over.
11:27 AM
I'm currently writing down notes in history and I'm not a fan. What I am a fan of is lunch and it's right after this class. Lunch gods, if you can hear me, please come save me soon.
I feel a nudge from the person to my left. I look at them confused. They simply nod in the direction of the other side of the room. I look over and see Adam looking at me.
I shrug at him. He quickly glances at the teacher and once he sees that he's not looking, he tosses a piece of paper in my direction and it lands on my desk.
are you busy tomorrow? It reads.
busy on a saturday? never. I write back.
wanna do something? Is his response.
Before I got the chance to respond, the note was taken from me and tossed into the nearest trash bin. It was Mr. Shaffer who took it and got rid of it, of course. He didn't say anything at all and went on teaching as if it hadn't happened.
