Turns out, Jordan wasn't crazy. Or at least, not as crazy as I thought. He casually asked my parents yesterday morning about having a "small get together" with some of his college friends tonight. It would include junk-food, video games, and catching up. It's only about three friends, and then on Thursday (aka tomorrow), he'll leave and face reality.
Why they didn't question why he couldn't do all of these things at Uni is beyond me, but they're allowing him to do it. They made him promise to be on their best behavior since it's the anniversary of the day they met, so they'll be gone. They also told me to make sure that Rosie and Xavier steer clear from the college boy mess and douche-baggery.
So now, as I sit in lunch, I'm telling Emery all about it. We're (of course) sitting with Brett, Isaac, and the other soccer guys. Thankfully, they weren't listening to the conversation as they were too invested in their boy talk.
"Since they weren't hesitant on letting him do this, maybe he'll reconsider leaving." Emery jokes.
"Oh, I bet. Does that mean you're coming?"
"Of course! We always do Halloween together."
"Great!" I smile. At least I won't be alone.
2:45 PM
"Amara, wait up!"
I turn around to see Adam jogging towards me.
"Hi." I say.
"Hey, so I know it's kind of last minute but, are you doing anything tonight?"
"Unfortunately, yes."
"Care to elaborate?"
"I have to watch my siblings tonight."
"Not to pry but...aren't they old enough to stay home alone?"
"Not if there's a party we're not." Xavier tells him, coming out of nowhere.
"Xavier!"
"What? It's true." He says, getting into the passenger seat.
"You're having a party?" Adam asks me.
I sigh. "Not technically. It's a "small get together" that Jordan's having."
"Jordan?"
Seriously, why is he asking so many questions?
"Emery's brother."
"Ah."
"I do have to watch my siblings because his friends are college friends...um, but Emery will be there so, you can come if you want."
"Yeah, cool. I'll let you know."
