"I don't think we'll win today." Isaac tells Brett at lunch.
"Not with that attitude we won't."
Emery and I have been eating lunch with them every Wednesday and Friday since our first lunch together. Trust me, we didn't go to their table after that day, but Brett would always come find us to sit with us until we agreed to Wednesday and Friday.
They have an away game today which I will obviously not be attending. I haven't gone to much others since the last one. I think they'll be fine though, since they've won almost every game so far. I think it's mostly because the seniors on the team are very passionate for a victory before they leave.
"Ooh, who's Xavier with?" Emery nudges me while Isaac and Brett (along with a few other guys from the team) are still discussing today's game.
I scan the area until I see him. He's with the girl that I gave a ride to a few weeks ago. I've seen them hanging around together more often lately.
"That's Abigail, I believe." I tell her.
"Are they a thing?"
I shake my head. "No, but they could be."
The bell rings, signalling the end of lunch and we all go our separate ways.
I'm packing up after dismissal since Xavier wanted to stay after school (I wonder why), and Rosie has theater rehearsal. As I'm closing my locker, I see someone approaching me from the corner of my eye.
"Amara! Hi!"
"Zoe...hi." Why is this girl talking to me?
"I just wanted to warn you about Isaac. I noticed that lately you've been eating lunch together."
Did she not notice about five other people at that table?
"Why would I need a warning?"
"Oh. Do you not know? You should, he sleeps around. He slept with someone last weekend." She informs me with fake concern.
"And I should care because..."
"I don't want you to get hurt, or to get your hopes up. He'll never see anything in you."
