"I'm ready. I'm so beyond ready for this week off." Emery announced as class was coming to an end.

"You do realize we have a few more classes left before we can actually leave, right?"

She rolls her eyes. "Yes. But so what? Can I not be ready to get my Thanksgiving on?"

"You don't even like Thanksgiving. You just like the food." I point out.

"And I'm thankful to be able to have food."

"What're you guys doing for Thanksgiving this year?"

"The usual. Going to the Grandparents house and pretending to care about football. You?"

"Same as always. Staying home and us all pitching in the making of the food." I respond. "Oh, is Jordan coming down for the holiday?"

"I think so. Why? Did you want him to throw a Thanksgiving party or something?" Emery teases, playfully giving my shoulder a shove.

"Oh, you bet. Nothing says 'party' like backstabbers who get remembered as positive in a holiday."

12:30 PM

Lunch is not going like it usually does. No one's really talking to each other which is a bit odd considering the last day before break is usually the day where people have the most energy.

Brett and Isaac's soccer friends aren't sitting with us today since they decided to skip. That explains one reason for the quietness. The other would be that Brett, Isaac, and Emery have all been on their phones.

I, on the other hand, have just been observing and sometimes I'll look through my camera roll to make it look like I have something to do.

"You're staying here for Thanksgiving right?" Emery suddenly asks me.

"Uh, yeah. Didn't we just talk about this?"

"Yeah, I'm just making sure in case Sloane Thanksgiving ends early and we don't get back too late."

I nod.

"Yo," Brett nudges Isaac.

"Yeah?"

"Is Derek coming for Thanksgiving?"

Almost immediately Isaac smiles. "Yeah, he should be. We talked yesterday."

"That's great man, maybe I'll swing by."

"You know what we should do?" Emery asks.

We all look at her.

"What?" I question.

"Friends-giving!" She exclaims. "We're all supposed to be friends, right?"

We nod slowly.

"Well friends actually hang out outside of school. Thanksgiving - or should I say friends-giving - gives us the perfect opportunity to do so. So let's do it."

I look at Brett and Isaac. Brett shrugs.

"Sure, why not. I'm in."

"Great!" Emery says, then looks at Isaac.

"I guess it wouldn't hurt."

Smiling, she now looks at me expectantly.

"What?"

Emery gives me a look.

"Oh fine. Let's have friends-giving."

She squeals excitedly and beings telling us that she'll make a group chat and give us all the details soon. She also told Brett and Isaac that their soccer friends are not invited. She said that they're more like background characters to her and therefore do not qualify as "friends-giving material".
