Amara Holland is ready to fly by senior year as painlessly as possible. Isaac Coleman is ready to graduate and leave a town that thinks he's someone he's not. They've been at the same school since they can remember and yet have never had a real conv...
When I wake up, I immediately grab my phone and look through my notifications.
After clearing all of them, I grab my jacket that was laying on the couch and peek over the couch to see Brett making pancakes in the kitchen.

Deciding to not be creepy, I get up and go over to where he is and ask him if he needs help.
"Nah, I got it. Thanks though."
"So, pancakes."
"Pancakes. The mandatory Saturday-morning-day-after-sleepover food."
"Isn't this your first time here?" I question.
"Uh...yeah."
"And you're making pancakes."
He nods before realizing how this is a bit odd. "Am I intruding? Is this rude?"
"It's kinda weird and kinda invading. But hey, don't worry too much about it. What's done is done and if anyone asks, I helped you get the supplies."
"Thanks." He smiles and flips over a pancake.
There's a brief silence where I just watch him make pancakes before I speak again.
"So, you and Emery..."
Brett glances at me. "What about me and Emery?"
"Well, you guys have been hanging out for quite some time."
"So?"
"So, you like her like her."
"What? No I don't, she's my friend that's all."
I give him a look. "Yeah okay, but that doesn't mean you have more than friends feelings."
He doesn't say anything.
"Brett come on. You can talk to me. I can help you."
"Fine, okay," He sighs. "I like her, okay? But what am I supposed to do? There's no point in getting into something now. It's Senior year, it's too late."
"It's not too late." I tell him.
Brett looks at me surprised. "It's not?"
"Of course not. Look, I know it may seem like you have time left, but you'll have less time if you don't act now. You have to shoot your shot. You won't know how it'll go or if it'll work if you don't go for it."
