"Emery, please? You promised."

"No, I didn't. I agreed to it but the words 'I promise' never came out of my mouth. I don't want to anymore."

"It's just this once."

It's Friday, which means lunch with Brett and Isaac. Emery had agreed to do it (I have no idea why), and now she's trying to back out (I have no idea why part two). She gives me a hard look which forces me into doing what I hated to do in order to get her to smile in situations like these.

I get down on my knees and shout, "Oh, Emery. Every night I weep and drown my sorrows because I know, I know that I will never be as pretty or as intelligent as you. It makes the heart I never knew I had distraught. But, because you are incredibly lovely, I stick by you. I -"

"Okay, okay. Get up, I'll do it." She says, fighting a grin.

"Great!" I smile. "Let's go to where they're sitting then."

She groans as I take her arm and lead her to where they're at. I'm a bit surprised that their other friends aren't sitting with them, but I've noticed that has been happening lately.

"Hey Emery!" Brett's eyes light up.

I clear my throat.

"Oh, hey Amara." Brett turns to acknowledge me to which I give a sarcastic smile to.

I sit across from Isaac who hasn't said anything, or even looked up from his phone for that matter. Emery sits across from Brett who looks like he just won the lottery. I hope this goes however it's supposed to.

"So, Emery. Do you like Chemistry?" Brett asks.

"Is that supposed to be leading into some kind of pick-up line?" Emily responds.

"N-no." Brett stutters. "We're in the same class and a lot of people have mixed reviews on the class, so I was just wondering what you thought."

"Oh," Emery pauses. "Well, I personally enjoy it. It's one of my favorite classes."

Brett nods.

"Well? What do you think about it?"

I don't care to listen to his response and turn my attention to Isaac who's typing angrily on his phone.

Gently, I kick his leg. His eyes snap to meet mine.

"What?" He says harshly.

"What's got your wand in a knot?"

"Do you need something?" Isaac questions.

"Just wondering what's bothering you so much."

"It's none of your business."

"Fine, figure it out on your own."

He opens his mouth to reply but stops as something behind me catches his attention.
