I walked into the Clearwater's house and was hit the smell of baking as usual. "Hey Ell" Sue called from the kitchen. "Hey" Seth and Leah chimed from the sofa as they played furiously on GTA. "Damn Seth, your sister is kicking your ass at your own game" I joked placing my backpack on a stool. "Shut up" Seth said back not taking his eyes off of the screen."Hey Ell would you mind coming with me somewhere I need to drop some things off" Sue said and I nodded. "Cool. The boxes are in the car" She said placing the hand towel down on the counter. We walked out the front door and to her pick up truck where I got in the passenger seat. "So where are we going?" I asked as Sue started up the car.
"To Sam Uley's" She said pulling out of her driveway. "I didn't want to mention it in front of Leah. That would just cause problems" She said and I nodded. "Understandable. What are we dropping off?" I asked looking at the boxes sitting in the backseat. "Just some things my mother left to Emily and my sister. I was cleaning out the attic and found them. I asked Emily if she wanted them and she said yes" She replied and I nodded.
"Cool. What's is it?" I asked. "Just some old native stories and pieces. She said they'd be goo for when she and Sam have children" She said and I smiled. "That's so cool. I wish my family was that interesting" I joked and Sue giggled. We soon pulled into the muddy driveway of a small wooden house hidden in the trees slightly.
Sue honked the horn and we climbed out. The door opened and I turned to see a beautiful girl step out of the house. She had fresh pink scars down her face but I averted my eyes trying not to make her feel uncomfortable. "Aunt Sue! Hi! Long time no see!" She beamed happily wrapping her arms around Sue.
"Oh I know! How have you been?" Sue asked as she opened the gate of the bed of her truck and reached for one of the boxes. "Great" Emily replied. "Emily this is Elise Swan" Sue said wrapping an arm around my shoulders. "Oh you're chief Swans daughter. It's nice to meet you I'm Emily" She said extending her hand and I shook it.
"So where do you want these?" Sue asked as she grabbed one of the 3 boxes heading towards the door. "Just in the living room. I'll go through them later" Emily said following behind her. I walked into the house and smelled cookies. "So how has the wedding planning been going?" Sue asked as she took a seat at the dining table where a basket of muffins where sitting.
"Well the other dat I went to Seattle to look at some dresses with a girlfriend and yesterday I went to a florist" She replied bringing a kettle of tea and some mugs.
"Awesome. Do you know what colours you want?" Sue asked. "Yeah. Sam and I decided on Navy blue. Simple yet elegant" She said pouring some tea into Sue and I's cups. "Thank you" I replied before taking a sip. "So Elise, how is school? Your still in school right?" She asked and I nodded. "Yeah. School is school. Boring" I replied and she giggled.
"I'm home" a deep voice called and we all turned to see Sam Uley walking over. "Hey sweetie" Emily said as he leant down pressing his lips to hers for a short moment. "Sue" Sam said nodding at her. "Sam Uley" Sam said offering his hand to me. "Elise Swan" I replied shaking his back. "Ohh so you're the Chiefs daughter" Sam said with a smirk.
"Is that how everyone knows me around here?" I joked causing everyone to chuckle. "No just before you two arrived he bragged endlessly about how excited he was" Sam replied from the kitchen. "Of course he did" I said said shaking my head. "Charlie is such a sweet man" Emily said smiling at me. "I know he is" I replied smiling back.
I finished my tea and placed the empty cup back on the tray. "Alrighty well Ell and I are going to head off. I have dinner to cook and Seth needs tutoring" Sue said before standing up from her chair. I arose too and adjusted my jacket as Emily hugged her aunt. "So good seeing you Aunt Sue and it was so nice to meet you Ell" She said before hugging me.
I gave her a hug back before we pulled away. Sam wrapped his arm around Emily's waist and she leaned into him. "I will come over again next week sometime so we can talk about your cake" Sue said as we made our way out the front to her truck. "Ok I will see you then" Emily said as we climbed into the truck. "Bye! I love you" Sue said as we began pulling out of the driveway.
"Bye!" Emily said as she and Sam waved back. We began the drive back to Sue's house and I fiddled with my bracelet. "Is Leah going to their wedding?" I asked out of curiosity. Sue sucked in a breath before letting it out. "I honestly don't know. I don't think she will and Emily knows that. It's so sad because when they were younger those two where like sisters. Emily used to hate Sam actually. With a passion"Sue said and I scrunched my eyebrows in confusion.
"Then one day it changed and the next thing you know they're dating" Sue explained and I nodded. "What was your reaction on that?" I questioned looking at her. "Well at first, I was angry at the both of them. I didn't understand how they could do that to Leah but then I realised that sometimes things aren't meant to be and not everything will have a happy ending" Sue said.
"That's true" I replied and she gave a small chuckle. "Yep. That's just life unfortunately" She said.
