Chapter 43

"I'm not just going to hide while you're out there taking all the risks for me" Bella said as we walked out of the house. "If it's Victoria involved, we need to keep the both of you as far away from the fight as possible" Edward said. "Jasper said that we could be of help" I said. "We won't need your help. With the wolves in this, it's an easy win. The rest of us aren't gonna have enough to do" Edward said rushing us off.

"Okay either it's so dangerous that we have to hide or it's so easy that you're gonna be sidelined. Which is it?" I said looking at Edward. "It's dangerous for you, it's easy for us" Edward replied and I rolled my eyes. "I think it's dangerous for us to be apart" Bella said stepping in front of Edward. "How many times do we have to prove that? I'll be worried, you'll be worried and we'll both be more vulnerable" Bella continued.

"Ok you're right" Edward said after thinking about it for a moment. "So I'm coming with you" Bella said. "No. I'll stay away with you and Elise" Edward said. "I can't make you choose between me or your family" Bella said determined to see the action. "The only way I can protect you is to be with you" Edward said and I cleared my throat. "And Ell" He corrected before we climbed into his car.

I held Jasper's hand in mine as we walked across the clearing meeting Jacob and Seth. "You're not fighting? Did you pull a muscle or something?" Jacob said sarcastically. "He's doing it for me ok" Bella said. "Whatever just tell us the plan" Jacob said. "This field will give us an advantage in the battle. We need to lure the newborns here with the girls scent. But it needs to end here" Jasper explained.

"Bella, Edward and I are going to a campsite. Even if he and Jasper carried us, they'll still pick up on our scents" I said. "Your stench ,however, is revolting" Edward said. "Dude, you really don't wanna start comparing stinks" Jacob said. "What he means is yours and Seths will mask ours if you carry us" Bella said.

"Done" Jacob said and Seth nodded. "This is not a good idea" Edward argued as he looked to Jasper. "Edward, they won't want get anywhere near their...odor" Jasper said. "Ok let's just try it" Bella said and I walked over to Seth who picked me up bridal style effortlessly. "Eau de wolf coming up" Seth chirped happily. "Run" Edward said and Seth turned before running off.

After a few moments he stopped and began walking. "It's so weird how buff you are" I said and Seth chuckled. "Sam said I'm staying at the campsite with you" Seth said and I smiled. "Good. That way I know you're safe" I said. "Does Jasper make you happy?" Seth asked out of the blue. "Yeah he does. Why?" I said and he shrugged. "Just wondering" He said.

"You ok?" I said and he nodded. "Yeah I'm fine" He said and I nodded. He walked for another 15 minutes before Seth turned around and began the walk back. "So how long until you turn into one of them?" Seth asked. "I don't know yet. Jas and I haven't really talked about it much since this whole thing has come up" I said.

We returned to the opening where Edward and Jasper were. Seth put me down once we reached them and I stood beside Jasper. Bella and Jacob appeared after a few moments and walked over to us. We left the field and made our way home. I climbed into Bella's truck after kissing Jasper goodbye.

As Bella and I arrived home I saw Alice leaving our house talking to dad. "Okay Alice, don't be a stranger" Dad said as Alice walked over to us. "Okay" Alice replied. "You alibi for the battle is all arranged" Alice said. "Really?" I said. "I told your father that our whole family is going camping this weekend so the three of us are having a sleepover at my house" Alice explained and Bella and I nodded.

"Charlies going fishing anyway" Alice added. "Charlie? You guys are on first name basis now?" Bella questioned. "Me, he likes. Actually You two, Jasper and Edward will have the house to yourselves tonight" Alice said and I giggled. "Like alone?" Bella said awkwardly. "We're all going hunting. Powering up for the battle. You're welcome" Alice replied and I smiled.
