Chapter 42

Edward, Bella and I climbed out of the Jeep before walking over to his family. I walked over to Jasper and wrapped my arms around his torso as he wrapped one around my back. The wolves appeared over a hill and the tension in the air grew. "They don't trust us enough to be in their human forms" Edward said.

"They came. That's what matters. Will you translate?" Carlisle replied before walking in front of us with Jasper and Edward. Esme came and stood beside me and I gave her a warm smile as she wrapped one arm around me in a friendly embrace. "Welcome. Jasper and Pierre have experience with newborns. They'll teach us how to defeat them" Carlisle said.

" The want to know how newborns differ from us" Edward said. "They're a great deal stronger than us because their own human blood lingers in their tissues. Our kind is never more physically powerful than in our first several months of this life" Carlisle said before stepping back allowing Jasper to walk forward.

"Carlisle's right. That's why they are created. A newborn army doesn't need thousands like a human army. But no human army could stand against them" Jasper said before turning to Pierre who stood beside him. "Now the two most important things to remember are, first: never let them get their arms around you. They'll crush you instantly. And second: never go for the obvious kill. They'll be expecting that and you will lose" Pierre explained before Jasper turned to his family.

"Emmett" He said as he walked to the clearing. "Don't hold back" Jasper taunted. "Not in my nature" Emmett replied before charging towards Jasper at lightning speed. He threw Jasper in the air and Jasper landed before they both charged towards each other. Jasper missed Emmetts punch flipped him onto the ground causing me to giggle.

"Never lose focus" Jasper said and I smiled. "Carlisle, Edward. You're next" Jasper said and we all turned to watch them. Carlisle nodded and Edward charged towards him before he slid under smoothly. They charged at each other again and Edward grabbed Carlisle by the neck before Carlisle flipped him off.

Carlisle swung at Edward but he ducked before pinning Carlisle to the ground. "One more thing" Jasper said walking over to them and suddenly Carlisle flipped Edward over causing me and Esme to laugh. "Never turn your back on your enemy" Jasper said as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

Rosalie and Pierre stepped up and he signalled her with his fingers. She walked over to him and swung at him only for Pierre to dodge it swiftly. Pierre flipped Rosalie and she spun through the air before landing on the ground. Alice and Pierre were next and Alice smugly walked up to him and he went to grab her but she dodged him smoothly with a smirk evident on her face.

He swung again but she ducked. He ran towards her but she cartwheeled away from him and I smirked. She is good I thought to myself. Pierre swung at Alice twice but she dodged them effortlessly. He grabbed hold of her arms and went to kiss her but she suddenly disappeared from his grip.

We all looked around confused when she suddenly dropped from the tree above landing on his back. She leaned forward and pressed her lips to his before walking away. I felt someone stand beside me and turned to see Seth. "Hey Seth" I said scratching behind his ear causing his back leg to twitch. I giggle and stopped putting my hand back in my pocket.

"It's weird seeing you in your wolf form" I said giggling and he let out a huff. "Excited to see your first dose of action?" I said and he shook his head before turning to Sam. "Is Sam not letting you fight?" I said and he nodded. "Well thats good to me because I wouldn't want you to get hurt. You're like the little brother I never had. Couldn't imagine loosing you" I said and he nuzzled me with his head licking my cheek.

"Ew!" I exclaimed wiping my cheek with my sleeve. The Cullen's finished and I turned to Seth. "I'll see you soon" I said before giving him one last small scratch and walked over to Jasper as the wolves disappeared into the woods. I walked hand in hand with Jasper and saw Bella sitting on the front of the Jeep waiting for Edward.

"Jasper?" Bella said and he turned to her. "Are you sure there's nothing Ell or I could do to help?" Bella said. "Your presence alone, your scent, will distract the newborns. Their hunting instinct will take over and drive em' crazy" Jasper reassured. "Good. I'm glad" I said and he squeezed my hand gently. We were about to walk away when "Hey" Bella said causing us to turn back to her.

"How do you know so much about this?" Bella said. "I didn't have quite the same upbringing as my adopted siblings" Jasper said before revealing his bite scars on his arm. "Those bites are like Ells" Bella said looking at them. "Battle scars" Jasper said. "All the training the federate army gave me was useless against the newborns. But still, I never lost a fight" Jasper said.

I gripped onto Jasper's hand supportively. "I didn't know there was another way. Till I found Elise" Jasper said turning to me and I smiled squeezing his hand as I wrapped my other hand around his arm. "Alice had seen her coming of course" He said and I giggled. "Of course she did. Took you long enough to realise" I added smiling. "My apologies ma'am. I don't know what I'd become without her" Jasper said and I ran my hand up his chest.

"Shh. You never have to be that again" I said before leaning up and pressing my lips to his. We pulled away and I wrapped my arms around his neck and he wrapped his around his waist. "I'm so grateful for you Ell" Jasper said gently and smiled. "I love you so much Jas" I said and we pulled away. "I love you more" Jasper replied before we started walking over to Emmett's Jeep and climbing in.

I snuggled into Jasper as the wind slightly blew outside. "If I ever happen to stumble across Maria, I will tear her to pieces for what she did to you" I said and Jasper chuckled. "Jas, you know Alice's vision at the party?" I said. "Yeah" He replied. "I know this might sound crazy but, I think Victoria's behind this army. I mean who else would it be? If the Volturi wanted us gone they would come and do it themselves" I said looking up at him.

"Alice would've seen it in her vision" Jasper said. "I know but Carlisle said whoever it was must be hiding in Alice's blind spots" I said. "Maybe" Jasper said. "Now Ell, you should get some rest. Go to sleep my love" Jasper said as he rubbed my back and I nodded before closing my eyes drifting off to sleep.
