Y/N's POV

I was waiting at the coffee shop for Lauren who has quickly become one of my best friends. I like her more than a friend, but she's in a relationship so I know I would never have a chance with her. Her boyfriend is an asshole, and I think that she deserves better than him, but she doesn't listen to me. She loves him. She's beautiful and would never go for a girl like me if she even likes girls. I sighed to myself and took a drink of the hot chocolate sitting on the table. That was a terrible idea because as soon as the liquid was in my mouth, it immediately burned my tongue. I put the hot chocolate down and groaned at my tongue that was now hurting.

I heard the bell ring by the door and looked over to see if it was Lauren. To my luck it was, and she looked beautiful. She always looks gorgeous. Even when she is wearing casual clothes. She was wearing a large sweater and a pair of jeans. I furrowed my eyebrows though as I saw her wearing sunglasses that were too large for her face. They were also covering up her beautiful green eyes. She sat down at the table and put her stuff down.

" Sorry, I'm late." She said to me, and I smiled at her.

" It's okay. Did you want me to go get you your regular?" I asked her and she nodded. I got up, kissed her cheek and went to the counter. I ordered her regular and looked back at her. I noticed that she was fidgeting with her hands and she still hasn't taken off her sunglasses. She only fidgets when she's nervous. Why would she be nervous? They called her order, so I grabbed it and brought it back to the table. As I sat down, she looked at me and gave me a small smile as I handed over her drink.

" Is everything okay, Lauren?" I asked her, and she looked up at me. She looked nervous again.

" Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" She asked me.

" I noticed that you were fidgeting and you only do that when you're nervous. I also noticed that you haven't taken off the sunglasses that you're wearing that are too big for you." I said to her, and she looked scared.

" I-I'm fine." She stuttered out, and I looked at her with my eyebrows furrowed.

" You don't sound fine. What's wrong? You can talk to me." I said as I reached forward for her hand, but she quickly flinched and pulled it to her. There's definitely something wrong. She never acts like this around me. I searched her face for some kind of answer, but I could only tell that she was scared. I glanced at her glasses and saw a little bit of purple just under her sunglasses. My eyes widened at the realization of what was behind those glasses. I hope I'm wrong about this.

" Take off your glasses, Lauren." I said to her, and her eyes widened. She shook her head causing me to sigh. I leaned over quickly and pulled the glasses from her face. I looked over her face and saw a dark bruise around her eye. I gasped, and she looked at me with horror on her face. She quickly looked down, and her hair covered her face slightly. I didn't want to be right about this. I'm going to hurt whoever did this to her.

" Who did this to you, Lauren?" I asked her, and she shook her head.

" Lauren, you need to tell me who did this to you." I said, and I was getting a little louder. Lauren looked around and noticed that people were starting to stare.

" Please don't do this here." She begged, but I wanted her to tell me who did this.

" Tell me who did this." I asked her, and she shook her head again. She quickly got up from her seat and ran towards the door. I jumped up and followed after her. By the time I got out, she was already in her car. I got to the door and tried to open it, but it was locked. I could see she had tears in her eyes. I don't know why she won't tell me. I want to help her. I banged on the window begging her to let me in, but she drove off ignoring my pleas. I watched her car disappear from my view and sat down on the curb. I put my head in my hands and sighed to myself.
