Y/N's POV

I was on a flight home to surprise my wife and children. I'm a Corporal in the US army and I've been deployed for six months. I miss my family so much, so I decided to surprise them. We have a daughter named Grace and a son named Noah. I know Noah loves basketball so I had asked the Miami Heat if I could surprise them. I got a yes back, so I'm so excited to see them finally. I know these surprises are cheesy and happen all the time, but I'm going to do it anyway. While on the flight, I had a few people saying thank you for your service to me. I thanked them and went about doing what I was doing. I was used to it by now.

As I stared out the window, I couldn't help but think about how much I missed my family. I hate that I have to be away from them for so long, but I'm keeping my country safe and my family. I don't regret this life I chose for me. I do miss laying beside my beautiful wife and seeing her stunning green eyes. I miss laying in bed and cuddling with each other. I miss playing with Noah and Grace and spending time with them. We'd go out to games often and take them out to do different things. I miss how we would go out to dinner every Friday night as a family. I wiped at my eyes gently when I noticed the tears rolling down my face. It feels like the closer I get to them, the miles and time is getting longer. I can't wait to see them and surprise them.

When we landed, I grabbed my bag from the overhead and left the plane. I walked through the airport and heard thank you's again. I left the airport and found the car that was waiting to take me to the game. The driver drove me to the arena, and I got out with a shake of the hand and a thank you. I went through the back and showed the security my ID and they let me in. The guard led me through the back and to the head coach who I talked with to set this all up. When I walked into the office, Erik Spoelstra stood up and shook my hand.

" Corporal Y/LN, welcome home." He said to me and I smiled at him.

" Thank you for allowing me to do this." I said to him and he nodded.

" We have contacted your family and they were thrilled to be invited. We didn't tell them why."  He said and I nodded. I was so excited but also nervous.

" What's the plan for the surprise?" I asked him.

" Well, we're going to do a fake contest where we pick random seats to come up and throw a ball in the basket to win a prize. We're going to pick your family's seats and have them come up to shoot a basket. When they do, we will tell them they won and bring you out with the prize. How does that sound? We didn't want to make it too obvious." He said to me and I loved the idea. They would have no clue.

" That's a great idea. Thank you so much for doing this." I said to him and he smiled.

" Thank you for your service. The game is going to start in two hours. Do you want to meet the players?" He asked me and I nodded. He led me to the court where the team was warming up. The coach got all of their attention and they smiled and they all shook my hand in a line. I talked to a few of them as they shot some hoops. Dwayne Wade was one of my favourites, so it was nice to meet them. They allowed me to try to shoot some baskets. I'm not horrible at basketball. I play it a lot at the base in Afghanistan. Time went by quickly, and soon people started to arrive, so I went into the back to hide away. I watched the game from in the locker room and felt even more nervous. When halftime came, it was time to announce the winners of the 'contest'. The coach came back and gave me the prize which was a large basket full of Miami Heat merchandise. I thanked them and waited.

" Time to surprise my family." I whispered to myself.

Lauren's POV

We were at the Miami Heat game as the team had invited us. It was halftime and they announced that they were going to have a basket throwing contest. Noah looked at me excited when he heard.
