Y/N's POV

I was riding down the street on my bike to go to my best friends house. Even though we're best friends, I like her more than a best friend. I would love to tell her about my feelings, but her stupid boyfriend is always there. I don't know what she ever saw in him.

When I got to their house, I threw my bike down and walked to their door. Lauren answered the door with a smile and I immediately smiled in return. I pulled her in for a hug and then I saw her boyfriend Brad behind her. I hate him.

" Hey, bud." He said as he walked over and grabbed me in a headlock. He messed up my hair and I wanted so badly to punch him in the gut, but I resisted the urge. He pulled me over to the kitchen and let me go. I looked at Lauren and resisted the urge to roll my eyes about Brad. She sat on the counter and Brad lit up a cigarette for her. I sat beside her and she blew the smoke in my face with a smile. I smiled at her as she placed the cigarette to my mouth. I inhaled deeply and she let it go. She lit up another as we sat on the counter. I looked over at Brad and noticed that he had opened up a beer. He always drank too much. That's all I ever see him do when I'm here.

" How have you been, Lo? It's been a little while." I asked her quietly and she smiled.

" I've been busy with school, but that's about it. I know you've been busy with work." She said and I nodded. We talked for a while before Brad suggested going to the park so that he can hit some baseballs. Lauren agreed and kissed him when he leaned in. I looked away with a sigh to myself. What does she see in no lip? I'll never know. Brad grabbed a case of beer that he would no doubt finish and we left the house. Brad walked ahead of us as Lauren and I walked behind and joked around with each other. Brad put his beer down and threw the baseballs down as Lauren and I sat near him. After a little while of talking and watching Brad hit baseballs, Lauren stood up and started dancing. I watched her body move and I couldn't help, but stare in amazement at the way her body moved.

" Come join me." Lauren said to me and I shook my head as I can't dance. She shrugged and kept moving her body back and forth to the music in her head.

After about an hour, Brad got sick of hitting balls so we went back to their house. As we got inside, Lauren suggested going for a swim, so the two of us went upstairs to change into bathing suits. I've come here so often that I have quite a bit of clothes here. I grabbed my bathing suit and turned around so that Lauren and I could change. I realized that I was facing towards her mirror and when I looked behind me, Lauren wasn't wearing a top. I could only see her back but I couldn't help but stare. Her smooth pale skin was on display. It may be wrong to like my best friend this much, but I couldn't help it. Everything about Lauren was amazing. She had an amazing mind and she wasn't scared of speaking about what she believed in. Not too mention her beautiful emerald eyes. I could stare at her beautiful eyes all the time.

Lauren turned around as I was staring at her with a smile and I looked down with a blush. We didn't say anything, but we finished getting dressed and went outside to the back. We jumped in the pool with a laugh and swam around. I turned towards Lauren and she splashed me in the face. I looked at her shocked and splashed her back. She laughed loudly and I couldn't help but smile at her laugh. I swam closer to her with a mischievous smile on my face and went under a little to grab some water in my mouth. I came up and spit the water at her. This time, she looked shocked. I laughed at her and before she could do anything in return, Brad did a cannonball into the pool and splashed us. I rolled my eyes at him as he lifted Lauren onto his back and they swam around while laughing. I sighed to myself and swam over to the shallow end and leaned against the wall. I watched them have fun and laugh and I couldn't help but feel jealous.

After a little while, I hoped out of the pool to lay down on a towel and Lauren followed. Brad sat in the lounger while drinking another beer. Lauren sat on her towel while her legs were in the pool. We were enjoying the sun and each other's company until we heard Brad groan and get up from his lounger. He stumbled off and I could tell that he was drunk.
