GRAYSON'S POV

I didn't know what to think.

So much has happened in the last twenty four hours and I feel like I'm about to explode.

I did something I wasn't proud of, that I told myself I wouldn't do ever again.

But I did.

And I feel like shit because of it.

I glanced over at Ethan who had a skeptical expression on his face, his eyes studying Mackenzie as she stood next to Aspen.

I couldn't help but glance over at her, my heart aching knowing I broke hers once again.

I just had to be a dick.

I just had to go and humiliate her in front of the entire campus.

I became high school Grayson once again.

And I hated it.

I wasn't that person anymore, I'm not that person anymore.

I was just angry, caught up in the moment, and before I knew it I had a different girl in my arms.

A wave of guilt washed over me the more I thought about it.

I glanced over at Aspen, seeing her squinting at something Mackenzie said, causing a smile to make its way onto my face.

She was adorable.

I cleared my voice, shifting awkwardly as everyone looked over at me.

"U-Um Aspen, can I talk to you for a minute." I hesitantly spoke up, seeing her bite her lip a bit as she slowly nodded.

We both walked over to a different part of the room, away from the others.

Ethan and I had offered for everyone to come to our house that way we'd know our surroundings more.

"What's up?" She questioned, causing me to cringe at how calm she was being.

"I-I just wanted to apologize for what I said the other day and how I acted towards you." I confessed, my voice low as she stared at me in surprise.

"It's fine Gray, really." She shrugged her shoulders, causing my stomach to churn.

"I should actually be thanking you, if you hadn't said what you did I probably would still be believing you love me." She let out a short laugh, a faint smile on her lips.

"Mackenzie and Carly were right. We're not good for each other, we never have been. So what's the point in trying anymore? You clearly moved on, so I will too. No hard feelings." She smiled, patting me on the shoulder before exiting the room, leaving me alone with my thoughts.

"But I love you.. I only want you." I whispered, my heart breaking as she disappeared out the door.

This was all my fault.

I eventually rejoined the group, seeing that they were trying to come up with a plan to trap Carly somehow.

"This is insane, if we let that demon half of her out how do we know we'll get Mackenzie back?" Ethan questioned, placing his hands on the cold table in front of him.

"We don't. But it's the risk we have to take." Aspen shrugged, looking over at Mackenzie who had been quiet this entire time.

A part of me was getting a strange vibe from her, she was no longer as talkative as she was earlier, in fact, it looked almost as if she was studying all of us.

And that's when it clicked.

Carly had already taken control.

"Hey guys.. Can I speak to you both for a moment?" I spoke up, earning everyone's attention as they nodded in response.

Ethan and Aspen began walking over towards me as Mackenzie slowly followed behind, causing me to panic.

"Uh.. I was only meaning for Ethan and Aspen.." My voice trailed off, causing her to stop walking with a roll of her eyes.

"Fine. I'll be over here then." Mackenzie (Carly) huffed out, leaning against the wall as I turned to my brother and Aspen.

"What the hell Gray? Mack is a part of this too." Aspen hissed, her brows furrowed as I pinched the bridge of my nose.

"Yeah well, Mackenzie is no longer with us, that girl standing over there is Carly." I spoke bluntly, as Aspen and Ethan's eyes widened.

"That's not possible, we've been with her this entire time." Ethan shook his head in denial, as Aspen glanced back at her friend.

"What are we going to do? We can't just talk about trapping her when she's with us already." Aspen whispered, glancing over her shoulder every so often.

"I have no idea, but we need to figure something out quick before she tries to kill one of us." Ethan spoke, his voice quiet as he began making his way towards Carly.

"Quick question where is your bathroom?" Carly questioned, tilting her head as Ethan cleared his throat, "Go down that hallway, then take a right, first door on your left." He explained as she smiled at him in response, exiting the room.

I couldn't help but find her actions suspicious, now that I knew it was Carly and not Mackenzie, I didn't trust anything she did.

"How can you feel okay with her just wandering around our house unsupervised?" I whisper shouted at him, narrowing my eyes at my brother.

"We can't treat her any different, if we did she'd know we're onto her." Aspen chimed in, as Ethan agreed with her, causing me to roll my eyes.

"You guys agree on so much, almost like you two are dating." I spoke sarcastically, not noticing when they both stiffened in place.

Ethan cleared his throat, pulling his phone out only for his brows to furrow.

"It's been like ten minutes and she isn't back yet.. you don't think?" Ethan's voice trailed off as everyone's eyes widened.

Within and instant everyone was standing in front of the bathroom door.

"Mack is everything okay in there?" Aspen called through the door, knocking on it a few times as she never got an answer in response.

Chewing my bottom lip nervously I turned the knob on the door, my eyes widening when I saw the empty bathroom, Carly no where to be found.

"Uh guys.." I mumbled, looking at the mirror as Ethan and Aspen shuffled into the bathroom.

"Well this is just great." Ethan muttered, his eyes scanning over the mirror as Aspen stood frozen next to him.

"Who doesn't like a game of cat and mouse?" Aspen read the words off the mirror, her hands shaking slightly as she saw another message written in smaller text.

There was an E, a G, and an A written out, however the A had an 'X' through it.

"She's coming after me.." Aspen whispered, looking up at the both of us.

"We won't let her hurt you." Ethan stated firmly as I nodded in response.

"We're going to beat her at her own game."
