"Now, then, let's try again, okay?" Aida asked, trying not to make eye contact with Asriel.
It had been a week since the little incident with Mettaton and the show. Yet, many things can happen within a week like that. Aida had invited Asriel to learn how to dance during one of their sessions. That was what they were currently doing. They decided that a simple Waltz was a good way to begin, though she was a fan of Swing.
"Dancing is what you and your other will do during parties so I suggest it would be nice to practice" she told him on the first day.
Waltz suited Asriel quite well. The calming tranquility allowed him to feel at one and peace with the music. It was serene and formal, but also calming. When he got the hang of it in the Solo steps, he began to practice with Aida as his partner. It felt a bit awkward with how they had to wrap around, but they managed. With her Soul now reunited with her body, she was more human now. She was more prone to feeling .
"Just remember to be sync with the music and your partner" she told him while looking away.
It took a while, but they got used to it. He was surprised this was as new to her as it was to him. She liked Swing better, so Waltz was different from her normal comfort zone. This was a nice step to learn for both of them.
They soon came to the part with learning to show affection. It was awkward with cuddling and hugging. They lost track of the amount of times that he got flustered and tried to back away. She was just as awkward but coached him on.
"You've never kissed anyone, have you?" she asked one day.
"Uh..." he turned nearly bright red. He had kissed some people before, but that was in a family sense. Chara had been kissed on the forehead for assurance and Toriel for love. But, never one on the lips for romance.
"Let's try"
"WHAT?!" now he looked like a tomato.
"You've seen Chara and Frisk. You'll be doing this a lot when you find your special someone; we may as well see what they will beforehand"
"I don't know...I mean...can't we just wait until I meet them?"
"You want to make a good impression, right?"
Nervously, he nodded.
She walked up to him. "Then show me"
Right now, he wondered how was she Alphys' child or if all robots had this side in their programming. He was nervous in all honesty, but didn't expect that they would even practice kissing. This was different from a family kiss, this was for love.
He shakily wrapped his arms around her before she followed suit. Looking at her more closely now, he could tell she was frightened as well. She looked away, eyes darting to the side as she tried to keep a straight face. If she were human, he could guess she would sport a blush as well. He put a hand to her chin to make her face him before she nodded. He closed his eyes and leaned in until he felt metal against fur. He felt her tense up and pulled away.
Only to find that he was kissing her open palm as she looked away.
"A little sloppy, but that is to be expected" she spoke up, slight fear in her voice.
He stared at her before she managed to break free of his grasp and stare at her hand. She seemed in deep thought as she gazed at it, as thought something were up. He observed that the center area of her ribbon, where the front of her neck was, began to glow a little. When she took notice, she felt at it and it stopped.
"I'm a matchmaker, Asriel" she didn't move from where she was. "I will not steal your first kiss from your Meant-to-Be other. Plus, my hands never lie"
He understood. Even with a Soul, she still was trying her best with matchmaking. Though, she could've just said it earlier and he wouldn't have felt so awkward. She may have done that so he would think it was the real deal. Yet, he couldn't help but wonder what that glow meant.
======================================================
"Doing well" Aida noted after Asriel's latest kiss practice on her palm.
He could only nod. This time, he wasn't feeling so awkward with her. He was just worried.
A month had passed since the first practice when Asriel got into a sticky situation with Wyatt. The Bravery child had pulled him out of a talk while they were all at a social gathering. The Human Souls were outright teasing him about his current relationship with Aida, but this boy was the worst. He, in turn, would retaliate with his pocky squat accident with Jenna. Though, this time was more serious.
Asriel had kept it secret that he was Asgore's son. He was close now to Aida, but still didn't want to confess. For all he knew, it would break her trust. Wyatt kept insisting, as she would find out soon one way or another. They may have spoken a bit too loud and Aida walked in on them. He tried to reason with her, but she fled.
When he finally got to see her again, she didn't seem to be the same anymore. She spoke in short sentences and only when spoken to. She still pulled through with their lessons, albeit afraid. It looked like Soulless Aida all over again. She was fine with the others, but her current situation with him was tense.
Right now, they just got back from his latest kissing practice. She hadn't spoken so much, only making a few encouraging comments every now and then, but even they sounded empty. They were sitting on the bench seats in the gazebo. She was staring off into the distance while he looked on anxiously. He never meant to lie to her. He never meant to scare her. She didn't like Asgore, no doubt, and he couldn't blame her. She wasn't just upset about him removing her Soul, trying to kill her, but it upset her the most with how devastated it left her mother. She was now looking at him the same way she did with who he once called father.
Finally, he gathered up the courage to speak. "I'm sorry, okay? I was afraid you'd act like this if I told you...but lying is worse and I know that now. I didn't mean to do it. I didn't mean to scare you, or lie. I'm sorry"
She seemed to tense up before shaking her head, still looking away.
"What is it?"
She seemed to let out an audible whimper like a wounded animal, worrying him. He heard her mumble something under her breath. He noticed that she began to fumble with the sleeves hiding her arms. Her hands then went up to feel at her face. One was at her cheek while the other felt for her ribbon.
"Aida?"
"This is too painful" he heard her atlast. "It used to be fun when you came to visit...but now..."
"Hmm?"
Her eyes widened as the glow in her neck brightened. She let out a shriek as she held her hands over her head. "It hurts! I...I can't breathe! I can't take this anymore!"
He rushed over to her, holding her head in an attempt to snap her out of whatever state she was in. "What is it? Is something wrong? Should I get Alphys? Tell me!"
She shook her head again before her hands found their way to his own. She shut her eyes tightly again before looking up at him. Her eyes were code glass again, scaring him. Yet, he tried not to show it. They soon returned to normal before she looked up to him. She pried his hands off her rather harshly. He tried to reach her again, yet she scooted away from him.
"Asriel...don't come here anymore!" she yelled, pain evident in her voice.
He was shocked at her. She was in pain and he tried to help her. She sounded so afraid. He tried to reach out again, but she got up from the bench and stumbled to try and make her way to the house. He wanted to help her, but he couldn't. She was scared of him. She didn't want to see him, not anymore.
He gave one last glance at her curled up form on the couch before leaving.
