When Alphys first made her, it was because she needed help. She soon found a new purpose for her after she grew attached. That purpose was to ensure everyone would find their significant other. When she was still a rabbit, Aida showed she was protective of her and she soon realized the robot as sentient and loved her as a mother. She had enhanced her system to be able to adapt to what she had to do. It was a success ever since they made it to the Surface.
She would scan one's crush to find if they were meant-to-be or possible. With her approval, they would be able to go on and do what they could. Everyone had someone they would end up with for the rest of their lives. They never know when or where. She only could say if it were destined but not intercede, except for any love triangles.
She now had been given a new task: To help Asriel Comic find his significant other. He was very awkward and didn't know what to do so she had to help him. They had been practicing with pick-up lines, flirting, knowing what step to take, dancing, cuddling, and kissing. The last one had a substitute as she didn't want to steal his first kiss.
But their friendship was stifled that one day when she overheard that he had been lying to her. He was Asgore's son, the one who tried to kill her twice. It was then she remembered how he wanted to glimpse at how her Soul was that one time. It frightened her beyond belief.
People often believe robots couldn't feel love themselves due to their artificial minds. She and Mettaton were different as they both had Souls. He was a ghost, but she was a living Soul. It didn't stop her from feeling however.
But would people believe it if they find that the Guardian of True Love was actually afraid of falling inlove? That was just the case. It was ironic, but that was why she asked Asriel to leave. It wasn't just from the revelation that he was the son of the one who tried to kill her, but because she feared loving.
She could never explain why; it just happened. She wasn't afraid if it were Alphys and Chara, mainly due to how the former was her mother while the latter was her friend. Friendship was fine, but love frightened her. She would feel her Soul glow and pulsate. She would barely form words. She was fumbling around with her sleeves and ribbon more.
She sighed as she slumped down on the wall behind her. She was currently in her bedroom. Alphys had it furnished when she began to live with her after her repairing. It had white walls and pink mats. There was a window with a mirror and closet beside it. Her bed had a white mattress, white pillow, and pink blanket. A shelf containing books was nearby, also holding photos of her with her friends.
Born from pure passion of a shy lass
The essence of a Guardian in her hands
A combination of true feelings recognized
Child of love was given rise
Singing helped her channel her emotions. Being out of them for too long did a number on her. She found this new gift on the day she auditioned for Mettaton. It helped her sort her feelings and possibly answer her questions.
With simply a gentle scan
I've led them all to find their match
Though not all were succeeding
Most found their happy ending
It was a joy to see that she had been able to help all those couples get together. It meant she was getting better and better each day. She enjoyed it so much that it was no longer just something she does because she was programmed for it, but because she loved it.
But the shell began to fade
For it was merely a façade
Once the mighty robot was undone
Underneath was a human girl all along
She became more and more human after she regained her lost Soul. It was nice to be able to connect again, but it came with a downside. She felt more vulnerable and prone to attachments other than family.
I never once feared death
But attachment is where it's beget
For I had to take a love and life
In order to save mine
It wasn't death but love she feared. She had one regret in getting her Soul back: Someone else had to die. It made her feel guilty and selfish about the circumstances. She looked down at her Couples Album beside her, going through the recent scans needed. She had tried to take her mind off by marking each when one in particular caught her eye. She picked it up hesitantly before sighing and scanning it.
I've helped them end up together
In happily ever after
She allowed her hand to work on its own to write. When she opened her eyes, the result made her feel even worse. She set it down as she pulled her legs up to her chest and hugged them tightly. She shed a few tears at the Meant-to-Be Couple she just scanned.
Yet there is one that simply can't become
For I can't be the one
It was a photo of her and Asriel.
