Remorse Over the Dead

Even the dead deserve some attention once in a while. They may never again be heard or seen again, but that doesn't mean they are gone forever. As long as one remembers them, they would still continue to live on in memory. No matter what they were, or what they did, they surely had someone who would think of them. One dead by old age is remembered by family members and friends. But if they were killed, sometimes a repented killer would try to atone.

Asriel walked on to the local cemetery, a wreath of blue forget-me-nots in hand. Since Flowey disappeared, he had been wracked by the guilt that he may be why Temmie died. Visiting Aida for love sessions in courtship distracted him, but when she told him to never come back the feeling came back. Now he knew how Flowey felt, alone.

Temmie died on a Friday night under a crescent moon, and she loved forget-me-nots. Every Friday night with a crescent moon, Asriel would come to her grave to pay his respects and give her the flowers. There were times he could sense Flowey's own sorrow resonate. This was the only way he could make up for it now.

He had memorized the way to her grave by now and knew the appearance. It was a simple tombstone with her name, lifetime, and quote on it. A box of Temmie Flakes was left there by another visitor, along with the frequent wreaths. During this time of the night, most other people were at home so it would just be him with his thoughts.

What he didn't expect was to see someone else there. He assumed it was probably a human from the shape of the figure, but he was surprised to see who it was.

"And he hasn't come ever since" Aida spoke to the grave. "It's a good thing too. I may as well have told him, right?"

What was Aida doing here? This time of the night was mostly her curfew and she should be in bed by now. She could be a friend to visit, but he didn't feel like approaching for now. He shyly watched from a distance.

Aida was telling Temmie about what happened to her, ranging from school to friends and family. Most of it was trivial, though the robot seemed disturbed every now and then, hugging her knees close to chest as she always did when getting tense. The one-sided conversation then shifted to Asriel and how she felt. He was getting extremely confused as to why.

"I guess we all have our regrets. Mine is one I will keep to heart and Soul as long as I exist. You had a life of your own, friends and family, even someone you loved. And I was the one who took it away from you. I can still hear him call for you, and see his tears as you left. I can't tell how he feels now, but you really must mean a lot to him"

She then reached into her dress' pocket and pulled out a wreath of the same forget-me-not blooms, along with a small buttercup in the center. She gazed at it for a while before setting it down on the grave.

"It came to me during his last visit. I was questioning how I felt for him then and how I should react. It felt so familiar. I didn't know why until my Soul glowed again. That was why it hurt. I felt your hurt in your memories. And when I looked up, into his eyes...that moment, I knew what it was"

"How Chara and Frisk felt, that's what it was. It was so...euphoric, more than Determination. I wanted to be with him so badly. But I couldn't. Every time I look into his eyes, I know all I could feel will be your sorrow and Flowey's. I'm...I'm sorry...I'm so sorry, Temmie..."

Asriel was shocked at that. Aida...loved him? She had been squeamish and shy around him since her Soul was united with her body, but they assumed it was probably due to her newness to emotion. He didn't expect it when she was confessing it to a dead Monster.

"Aida" he spoke, shaky in tone.

The robot perked up when she heard him and tried to hide her tears. When she noticed him, she switched to her rabbit form and began to hop away as fast as her mechanical paws could carry her. He began to chase after her. Up and down they went across the tombs and graves. It wasn't long before she reached the exit and jumped out the gate, him not far behind. He was nearly catching up to her when she flew out of his grasp.
