Ch. 10: Protecting Alex

Chapter 10

            Alex decides to go downstairs with her plate and glass, and saw Mandy, Dani, and mom at the table having some tea.

            “Hey Alex, are you feeling okay?” Mandy asked.

            “Yea, just got down for some reason, but I don’t think I could be anymore happier since I gave my brothers a job,” she giggles and goes to clean her dishes.

“What kind of job did you give them?” mom asks looking at Alex.

“They want to put music to my songs,” Alex said with a smile.

“I didn’t know that you could write lyrics,” Dani smiled.

            “Neither did the boys until about five minutes ago,” Alex said looking at her watch.

“Well, we know where they’re going to be for the next few hours,” Denise chuckled.  “Mandy leaves tomorrow, why don’t we all go have a girls’ day out?” she asked.

            “I’d like that a lot mom,” Alex said with a smile.

“Girls go get ready, and we’ll leave.  I’ll give Rob a call too.”

            The girls get up and go get ready to leave as Denise calls Rob to bring the SUV.

After Denise told the boys the girls were leaving, they were composing the music to one of the songs for Alex as they heard the doorbell downstairs.

They stop playing to look at each other and asked at once.

“Did you call anyone?” Joe asked.

“Are you expecting anyone?” Nick asked.

“Did you order delivery?” Kevin asked.

“No,” they said at once.

The doorbell rang again.

“Nick you should go get it,” Joe said turning back to the journal.

“Me why not you Joe,” Nick said taking the journal from him.

            “You’re younger then me so go answer the door,” Joe said snatching the journal back.

“No Joe you go,” Nick said trying to take back the journal.

“How about I go answer the door,” Kevin said snatching the journal from Joe and rushing out the door.

“HEY!” Joe and Nick said and both runs after Kevin.

            Kevin laughs going down the stairs quickly with Joe and Nick on his tail, and Kevin reaches the door laughing as Joe and Nick reached the bottom steps and fell onto the floor.

Kevin looks back and tossed the journal onto the couch, “I’ll get it,” he said opening the door, and looks to see who was on the other side of the door, and stopped laughing.  “What the hell are you doing here?” he said rudely.

Joe and Nick look up and get up quickly to see who was at the door.

“Hi Kevin, is Alexis home?  I would like to speak with her,” Chris said.

“Like hell you are!  After what you said to her.  You are nothing but a total and complete fuck up,” Joe told him.

“I’m sorry but I’m here to talk to Alex,” Chris said.

“She’s not here,” Joe told him as he and Nick were right behind Kevin.

            “I don’t believe you.  Let me in.”
