The White Lion

Prologue

"Alex Shirogane," one of the flight instructors say.
"Here," I respond back while I take a small glance at my best friend Ella Rose. We both got into the Garrison because of our piloting skills but Ella also got in from her medical experience.
"Ella Rose," the flight instructor says next.
"Here," she responds while taking a look at me as well.
He then called a couple more names, then finished up role call, and quickly explained to us what we will be doing. "Today you are going to be put into groups based on your skills and your skills alone. Your grades have nothing to do with this. There will be four people per group; one will be the fighter pilot and captain of your group, one is the mechanic, one is the technician, and last one will be medical trainee and/or an assistant pilot. The first group is going to be Lance McClain, Hunk Garret, Pidge Gunderson, and Ella Rose," He then called out the second and third group. I was in none of them. "Finally the fourth group will be James Griffin, John Viper, Lily Powers, and Alex Shirogane."
Gosh I really wish Keith was here. My other best friend, we met because my older brother decided to put him in the Garrison. Which to make things even worse Keith and James don't even like each other. What is he going to think when I tell him I got paired with him. Fun conversation tonight I guess. (James Griffin is the guy Keith punched when he was in a flying simulation. Sorry don't know what season.) After my own little conversation with my self I walk over to the flight instructor to see which person I am. I just really hope the I am not the assistant pilot.
"Excuse me sir," I ask as I walk up to him, " will I or James be the fighter pilot during the simulation?"
He looked at me very confused and then said, " You're not like your brother Alex; you're not strong and plus your not a leader. James will be the fighter pilot during the simulation. Understood?"
"Yes sir," I say back and walk off to go find my group. Why would he even say something like that?! Is he even aloud to?! That was just so rude! I'll have to talk to Shiro or Adam about this. Maybe around two to three minutes I find my group and James is already smiling. He probably already knows that he is the captain.
"Hello Alex or should I say Assistant," James said as a new smirk decided to start growing on his face.
"Shut up," I respond back while trying to study the other people in my group since I don't know them.
"Look like you two have some chemistry. Hahahaha!" John said with looking at Lily who also happened to be laughing as well. I then gave them a warning glare which made them both stop and immediately look at the ground. We waited for our turn in silence after that. Then it was finally our turn to go in the simulator.
"Group Four you're up," one of the commanders said while I looked up to see Shiro sending me a reassuring smile. I then quickly looked back to the machine and entered.
"Alex your seat is right next to me," James says while looking at me with a stare telling to hurry and move, "come and sit do we can get going."
