~Charlotte~
"Actually, I'm a long lost boyfriend." Riley said winking at me. Ugh! He always did have his charms. "Who are you?" He asked James.
"Kitten? Anything you want to tell me?" James said looking at me.
...................................
"Anything I want to tell you.. Well, um, I can't-" I paused and turned to Riley. "You need to leave. Now. You shouldn't be here."
"Charlotte, do you know how long I've been wanting to find you again? You can't do this to be. You can't." Riley pleaded.
"Charlotte, do you want side time some to sort this out?" Have said, looking rather annoyed.
"Uh, please." I muttered.
James nodded and walked out the house leaving Riley and I standing in silence.
"Uh, please come in." I said showing him to the living room.
"Huh, this is fancy, who does he work for?" He asked sitting on the sofa.
"Haha, it's very complicated." I said. Yep, James is a psychopath! That's his job...
"Right" He muttered. I shut the door and sat next to him.
"Well, I suppose I have a lot of explaining to do..." I said nervously.
"Yes, you do."
"Right, well, firstly I want to day I'm sorry. For leaving you without telling you. I really didn't want you to get hurt. So, you know how I'm an orphan?"
"Yes." He said loosening up.
"Well, when I went to college, I paid for me to stay. I paid with the little money I got when I was orphaned. So, the time came when I eventually ran out of money and I had to do something. I had to get a job or something. So, I decided to leave to find job. That meant leaving our hometown to come out to London."
"But Charlotte, I thought you had plenty of money." He said sounding confused.
"I did but-" I paused. I really didn't want to tell him this.
"Charlotte." He pushed me to carry on.
"I got into some trouble and had to pay a debt. It doesn't matter right now. Please can we just drop the subject?" I said feeling stressed.
"Fine. Look I could've paid for your extra year. If you had just told me." He reasoned sitting closer to me.
"Riley, just because your father is a lawyer and your mother is an accountant didn't been you can throw away your money on me. I had to leave. I couldn't tell you otherwise I wouldn't be able to handle it." I felt sick talking about this. It was draining me.
"Charlotte, I swear, you know my family saw you as their own. You basically spent your life there. When I went to college that day and you wasn't there I thought you must be I'll or something. So afterwards I went to your orphanage and asked that woman, Ms Harper, where you was. When she told me you left town I didn't believe it. But when I saw the younger kids they all realized who I was and told Mr that you'd left. They said they missed you. So I went home, and I asked my parents and my sister if they had heard from you. Nobody did. I was frantically calling your phone, leaving you hundreds of messages. You didn't even reply to one. I was broken Charlotte." He said all this so fast it took me a second to process everything. He looked away from me and seemed to be holding back his emotions. He took a deep breath and looked to the floor.
"I know, I know. I've been horrible to you. I have been really unfair. I am really sorry." I said awkwardly rubbing his back. "Look I'm sure there are other girls out there, other girls you've been in a relationship with." I said trying to reason with him.
"Yes, yes, of course there was. No one compared to you though. Is why I can't to find you. To get you back." He looked up at me as he said this with hope in his eyes.
"I can't. I can't. I'm in love with James and I can't leave him. I cant." I said almost trembling.
"Charlotte! This is stupid. I've came all this way to find you and now I don't even get you back?" He asked angrily.
"No Riley. That's it, is over! After years you should've moved on." I said standing up and looking to the ceiling.
Riley for up and shook me to look at him. "No, no, do not do this to be again! Please Charlotte." He brought his hands up to my cheek and smiled slightly. "Romeo and Juliet." He key out a small laugh. "You always used to read that play. Always. That- that line what was it?" He said frantically.
"Riley stop." I said shaking my head. I could feel my eyes stinging from the pain and I tried not to cry.
"Oh. I remember! Umm, Then move not, while my- my- my prayer's effect I take. Thus from- from- from my lips, by thine, my sin is, is purged." He stuttered as he tried to remember the quote from the play. The part where Romeo kisses Juliet. I knew what he was going to do, yet I didn't stop him.
He sighed and leaned into me taking my lips for his own. He kisses me softly. It was a kiss that I had missed. Our tears had already fallen and I had to pull away from him because I couldn't lead him on or anything.
"Charlotte, please at least think about it. I need you, more than you know." He whispered.
"Alright, just I need you to go before James comes home. He's probably on his way home." I sighed wiping my face and opening the door.
"Fine, but I'm coming back tomorrow. To see you." He said as we approached the front door.
"Bye Riley. I'm sorry for everything." I sighed.
"I love you." He simply said, than he turned and walked down the white marble steps and walked out the iron gates. I watched him go.
As I turned around I was surprised by Sebastian who has obviously gotten home.
"Hey, what's the matter?" He said, obviously seeing that I had been crying as my mascara had ran down my cheeks.
"It's too complicated." I sighed entering to house.
He grabbed my hand and said,"Let's go get you cleaned up." He said taking me to the bathroom.
