Chapter 9 ~A Kiss Never Hurt Anyone
You ate the poem I never knew how to write and this life is the story I have always wanted to tell. ~Tyler Knott Gregson
**************************
Felix's POV
"Focus Felix" I heard my father yell at me from outside the sparring ring as I once again zoned out.
I kept thinking back to what Costas said about Grant being his mate. I just couldn't get it out of my head and I can't bring myself to stop feeling sad about it.
Here was my crush, since 8th grade year, finally talking to me and getting along with my friends. Then suddenly he's so rudely snatched away by some prick who claims dominance over him like Grant is some kind of toy he could claim.
Maybe I should give up on Grant and move on.....
It's not like I gave signs that I liked him anyways. Between never talking or befriending him and sleeping with random girls so people would think I'm straight. I never did give him anything so I can't blame him or Costas at all.....well maybe I can blame Costas a little bit but that's because I don't like him.
I shake my head and divert my attention to the boy in front of me, who just like me, was training to take our fathers place as a hunter. I watched as his stance changed, so obviously revealing his next move to me.
His foot pivoted as he readied himself for, I assume, a side kick. But his form was weak and there was no real power in his kick. I very easily sidestepped his attack and watch as he stumbled over himself.
The crowed of hunters laughed at the pathetic excuse for a kick. It's blatantly obvious that this kid wasn't made to be a fighter.
He wouldn't survive as a hunter.
His father yelled profanities and things between the line of "Being a disgrace to the family name" which made me roll my eyes.
I was getting plain bored with this fight and in all honesty I was in no mood to fight the kid. Looking at him reminded me too much of Grant, and my head kept sending me images of Grant which prevented me from doing anything other than defensive moves. Plus it didn't help that the boy also had striking blue-green eyes, but Grants were more mesmerizing and beautiful in my opinion.
I sighed as my father complained on how long I was taking to finish off an 'easy' opponent. I snarled and sent a roundhouse kick which successfully knocked the kid down. I didn't add enough force to knock him out, but just enough to knock him down.
With that the match and training was over and I was free to leave.
"Don't even bother coming home tonight you bitch" the boy's father snarled on his way out of the warehouse. Which I paid little to no mind to.
I stood there and unwrapped my hand and fingers until my father called for my attention. "I'm going hunting. Tell Violet I won't be home for 3 days at most" my father said before walking away.
"Tch," I grumbled under my breath. He only ever takes breaks to train me and as soon as that's over he leaves again.
I was going to exit the ring when I heard sniffles. I turned my attention back to the boy who was currently sitting pathetically in the middle of the ring and holding back his tears.
I bit my lip and considered whether or not helping the kid out. Half my mind told me to go and help him while the other more bitchy side of me told me to mind my own damn business.
.....I decided on helping him.
I looked around to check for anybody still being here and I came to the conclusion that everybody either left or was pasted out drunk.
I sighed and turned to the boy before walking up to him.
"Get up" I sighed "Let's get you cleaned up" I extended my hand out to him.
He looked up to me with those startling blue-green eyes that were oh so similar to another boy I know. This caused my heart to skip a beat and send pain a bitterness flowing through me.
I snapped out of my self loathing thoughts when I felt a warm, soft hand touch mine.
I helped the boy to his feet and caught him when he lost his footing. "I-I'm sorry i-it's just-" he started until I cut him off.
"I shouldn't have kicked you that hard.....at least not to the head" I mumbled before escorting him to the restroom.
I lead him to one of the run down looking sinks and have him recline against it while I pull out a bandanna from my pocket. I ran it under cold water before applying it on his busted lip.
"There's I bruise forming on your face. You should put ice on it when you get home" I murmured.
My eyes met with his and he stared at me with a hurt puppy dog look that was probably natural for him. "Right" I mumbled a bit out of breath for some reason "You can't go home" I noted.
He was giving me the same look that Tyrell and Brendan give each other, the same look J.J gives Harley.
It was that look.
The one that could take anyone down if done right, or in my case if they have a broken heart and desperate for a rebound.
He suddenly leaned in and met my lips with his slightly swollen ones. I flipped us so I would be the one leaning against the sink while he leaned into me for support. It was a gentle, and passionate kiss that went slowly for the sake of his bruise lip, and there was no tongue.
He pulled away suddenly and a bright crimson color lit his pale complexion "I'm sorry" he blurted. "I've never kissed anyone before. I-I didn't mean to i-it was like a spur of the moment type of thing. I understand if you're mad at m-me" he stuttered over his embarrassment.
I chuckled "Don't worry. If you didn't notice I kissed you back" I pointed out. If possible he turned a brighter shade of red "Now let's go. You're spending the night at my place" I stated.
"W-What" he sputtered "I-I don't even know you" He cried.
"I'm Felix" I introduced myself.
"J-Jason" he said still stuttering.
"Okay Jason, I know you have no where else to go, so you either come home with me or walk alone in the woods" I told him.
His eyes widened in fear "I'll go with you" he agreed immediately. "Just assure me that you won't hurt me. Promise?" he asked.
I nodded "I won't" I swore before helping him walk out the door.
But there was one unsettling fact.
And that fact is the kiss did nothing to help me get over Grant.
In fact my need for him grew tenfold and an empty pit formed in my stomach. I just kissed someone else which strayed me farther from ever having or being deserving of him.
Whoever said a little kiss never hurt anyone, lied.
Because that kiss between me and Jason.....
........killed me.
