Don't wait. The time will never be just right. ~Napoleon Hill

Grant's POV
I took a deep breath and I turned the corner into the kitchen ready to confront my dad. This whole morning we've been arguing over the fact if I should miss school today or not.
I want to go of course, but he isn't to convinced on letting me go since I woke up with a bump on my forehead and a headache.
"I'm okay, really. I don't have to stay home and ruin my perfect attendance" I tell my father as I turn the corner and stomped my way into the kitchen.
"Uh-huh and that bump on your head says otherwise" he told me not looking up from his newspaper.
I pursed my lips and puffed my cheeks out in frustration "Please," I implore "I'll take it easy today. And if you write a note I'll get out of p.e that way I don't do anything too physically demanding" I try to coax him while giving him my best puppy dog face.
"Grant, I already told you my answer is no" he told me, and my face fell into a displeased scowl. He put down his newspaper and looked at me "I'm the parent here and in the end my word is rule. So, you are staying home and resting. If you feel so complied to do work why don't you work on that book report you told me about" he suggested before taking a sip of his coffee.
I huffed and moved to the side when he stood to grab his keys and jacket "Fine. I'll stay home and not because you told me to but because I'm too lazy to get ready" I lied so it could seem that I had the last say on the matter.
He smiled at me "Oh and don't forget to get the mail from the box when it arrives. I'm waiting for an important paper" he told me. "There's leftovers in the fridge for lunch. All ya' have to do is warm it up" he added.
"I know dad you can leave now" I muttered.
"Make sure you rest" he said one final time before leaving.
I sighed and took some painkillers before flopping on the couch and turning on the t.v.
This is going to be a long day.....
**************
It was probably around 9:30 am when the mail man finally arrived.
I waited a few minutes until I decided to get up from the couch to get the mail from the box.
I inwardly groaned when I stepped outside only to see my neighbor -Mrs. Lodie- outside too.
So much for no human contact today......
"Grant, how nice to see you dear" she calls out to me as I made my way back up to the house after grabbing the mail.
"Nice to see you too Mrs. Lodie" I replied back with a tight smile.
The older lady smiled at me before saying "Now I just about had a heart attack when I saw you coming home with that delinquent yesterday" she started. "Now take it from me since I am an elder," she paused for a moment at took a deep breath before continuing "You really do want to stay away from the bad boys. Now I know you're a good kid so just the thought of a little act of rebellion gets you revved up, but seriously in the end those bad boys aren't worth your time" she told me this information as if she learned it the hard way.
