Grant's POV 

*One Month Later* 

"Oh and before I go..." Felix started as he turned around before exiting my room. "Since Spring break is in a week I was wondering.....do you want to come with me to California" he asked while rubbing the back of his head sheepishly. 

I was shocked at the sudden invite "Uh, well I say sure but I'll have to ask my da-"

"I already did" he cut me off though he was still fidgeting which was weird. 

I blinked "Oh, then sure!" I smiled.

"Great" he leaned down and placed a kiss on my forehead "See you later" he was about to walk out when I called out to him. 

"But why California? I mean....is there a reason we're going or is it simply to travel" I asked him. 

He froze and didn't turn to look at me "My dad came home for the first time in weeks...he said he found out where my mother is. My biological mother..." he trailed off. 

I walked over and hugged him from behind "And this trip...are you planning on visiting her?" I asked him. 

"U-Uh, yeah that's the plan. I have some questions I want answered, but more then anything I want to see her...to get to know her. At least a little bit" he coughed nervously. "I know she was just some girl that my dad knocked up, but she still birthed me. I mean she could've chosen to abort" he spoke softly.

"So it's not so much a vacation but a-" he cut me off before I could finish. 

 "Listen it's just going to be us two, and I understand it's not some vacation that you were probably expecting. I understand if you want to stay and not go. I mean it is spring break, and you deserve it Mr. 4.0 GPA" he turned around and wrapped his arms around me in return. 

I frowned and pulled back slightly so I could look into his eyes "Of course I'm going with you dummy" I tell him. "I'll be by your side and support you no matter what" I tell him sternly. "So none of this 'you can stay behind stuff' because you're stuck with me whether you like it or not" I pout. 

He smiles "Yes, sir" he presses his lips to mine for a quick peck before pulling back. 

"Tell Violet I said hi" I tell him as I show him out. 

"Yeah, yeah" he waves off. "I'll pick up for school tomorrow" he says. 

"Yeah, yeah" I mock his previous response. 

He looks at me and a smile slowly makes it's way onto his face.

His smile left butterflies in my stomach, and I was left feeling warm inside as I closed the door behind him. 

I really like that boy a lot.

There was a rapping on my door which I would have missed if it weren't for the song ending. 

I slowly pulled my headphones off my head and listened intently to make sure I wasn't just hearing things.

But I heard the distant rapping on the door from my room. I groaned and threw myself back on my bed feeling too lazy to get up to answer the door, but the knocking got more persistent and impatient.
