A/N I finally got a new computer so I'll be able to update more often (there will be more information about my hiatus at the end if you want to know what happened). Don't be a silent reader comment your thoughts.

Chapter 6~ We Aren't That Close...

Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you. ~Friedrich Nietzsche

Grant's POV

I woke up shivering and stiff in the cold dead of night. The cool, early February breeze was blowing through the tree house and with every gust of wind it felt as if the temperature dropped a degree. I looked around the small tree house until my eyes landed on Felix's sleeping form. Even his sleeping form seemed to be guarded and displeased. Yet he couldn't look any more peaceful as if he was completely comfortable sleeping in a cold treehouse in late winter night.

My thoughts were interrupted as a rustle was heard from outside. My anxiety and fear of wondering who -or what- could be outside at this hour in the middle of the woods. I glanced at Felix and considered waking him up just so I could feel safer but I decided against it. The rustling started up again yet louder and closer this time.

An involuntary whimper of fear fell past my lips, but I swallowed back my fear and went to the window to peer out. My eyes scanned as far as I was able to without having to stick my head out the window. The rustling had stopped but that doesn't mean whatever was there has left.

"What are you doing" a voice said from behind me making me jump back and land on my butt.

I shook with fright and calmed down a bit when I realized it was just Felix. He wasn't looking at me but instead he was staring out the window with a scrutinizing look. He sighed and moved away from the window and sat in the same place where he was previously sleeping.

Now that I was able to relax the cold caught up to me and my teeth began to clatter. My plain t-shirt wasn't doing anything to keep me warm.

I glanced at Felix for a moment before I spoke up "I'm sorry for waking you" I apologized.

He pulled out his pack of cigarettes and lit one up before he grunted, "Don't worry about it"

I stared at him and my nose crinkled at the smell of the cigarette. Seriously that has to be his third one from just tonight and it's only been a few hours.

"What" Felix asked me.

"I didn't say anything" I told him.

"Yeah, I know but your scrunching up your nose so what's wrong" he asked.

"Nothing.....Well actually, the smell of your cigarette sort've smells really....horrible" I told him finally.

"But you told me that you didn't mind if I smoked" he said while furrowing his eyebrows.

"Well I said that I didn't mind if you did because I'm nobody to you, so how can I tell you otherwise. But in reality I really hate the smell" I muttered.

He stared at me before he put it out "You should have said something earlier" he sighed. "I won't smoke in front of you anymore" he promised.

"Why? We aren't that close anyway so why would you...." my words died out.

I wrapped my arms around myself as it seemed to be getting even colder. It got to the point where my body started to physically tremble from the cold.

He stared at me intently before he took off his leather jacket "Come here" he said gesturing to his arms. He completely discarded my previous words too.

"Wha-"

"Come here" he said again. When I made no attempt to move he rolled his eyes before saying,  "Listen kid I only have one jacket and I rather not freeze my ass off, so we either share or you fucking freeze."

I shuffled over to him before sitting myself in between his legs and laying against his chest. He draped his jacket around the both of us "It's leather so it won't be too warm, but at least it's something" he grunted.

I sighed as warmth surrounded me I snuggled myself into his chest to get comfortable before I found myself falling back asleep.

I felt his arms wrap around me as he laid his head on top of mine before I was completely lights out.

"Grant" I felt myself being shaken "Psst, wake up" then I was shook again.

I opened my eyes and came face to face with Felix "Let's go it's already daybreak" he said.

I just nodded dumbly -as I was still half asleep- and followed him down the treehouse. I looked around and realized I did know where we were at.

"I know this place" I mumbled more to myself but Felix heard me.

"What" he asked.

"I used to go on walks through here with my mom on..." I looked around until my eyes landed and the -now- overgrown trail. "That trail" I pointed to the already fading trail as sweet childhood memories filled my head and warmth flowed through me. "This trail leads right to my neighborhood. I guess this is goodbye, see ya' on Monday" I told him before walking toward the trail.

I felt a light but firm grip on my wrist and I turned back to Felix "You really think I'm going to let you walk off by yourself" he scoffed. "There's wolves in these forest some real savage ones at that" he said with a scornful expression.

I winced and looked away "I know....I'm highly aware of the wolves" I mumbled trying my hardest not to ball like a little baby right here and now.

Felix sighed "Let's go, kid" he said while going in the direction I was previously headed in.

With nothing to say I snapped, "I'm not a child!" before I followed behind him.

But as we walked I couldn't help the feeling that we were being watched.....

A/N So as promised the reason I wasn't updating.....So as you all know (I'm assuming you all know) I attend college. Well I came home from school only to find my computer completely not working like at all and being in college I have no money for anything. Yes, I do still live with my parents and they help me whenever I need help, but I felt to embarrassed to ask them for a new laptop especially when I couldn't explain why it was broken in the first place. So like a week later me and my sister agreed to share her laptop but the thing is she is also in the university so there was a clash on work schedules. My parents found out my computer broke during and argument my sister and I had and it turns out my brother broke it on accident (don't ask). So I spent all this time using the main desktop that's in my parents room for school work and I was too embarrassed to use it for anything but school. But on my birthday I got a new laptop (hence why I updated).

And that's my ted talk......

WELL BYEE!!!!
