Chapter 13 ~Ramen Date Pt. 2

The moral of this story is that no matter how much we try, no matter how much we want it...some stories just don't have a happy ending. ~Unknown

Felix's POV

I stared at the restaurant we were walking towards in reluctance. I disliked seafood and to my limited knowledge of ramen I assume it contains fish or just some sort of seafood in general.

But I wouldn't dare say anything to Grant. He looks so excited to be taking me to this restaurant....to be sharing something he likes with me. He even went as far as claiming it was one of his favorite restaurants.

I couldn't let my pickiness get in the way.

"What's wrong" I heard his soft voice ask me.

It was only then did I realize that we had stopped walking "Nothing" I said curtly. "Why don't we hurry and get inside to order, because I'm starving" I suggested while flashing him a smile.

He pursed his lips as he looked at me before he said "No, something is wrong. I can tell" he looked me in the eyes which gave me an uncanny feeling that he was staring into my soul. "Does it have something to do with the restaurant because we can go somewhere else if you like" Grant told me acting nonchalant but I could tell he felt a little disappointed.

"No, no this place if fine.....I just don't like seafood" I muttered at the end.

His eyebrows furrowed a bit before he gave me a smile "Oh, that's fine you don't have to order a bowl with seafood there's options without it. And if it was really a big problem you could have given me the fish or whatever, because I love seafood!" he beamed at me and suddenly all my reluctance went away.

I stared at him before walking past him "Well then, what are you waiting for? I'm starving let's go order" I told him before turning my head back and giving him a sly smirk.

He ran a few paces to catch up to me, and soon we were walking side by side to the restaurant.

"I know the owner, ya' know" he piped up suddenly.

I opened the door for him before following him inside.

"Do you now" I asked him.

He hummed "I mean my dad and I go there all the time, and I'm not exaggerating. We literally come here almost every Friday when he comes home from work. That's one of my favorite traditions with him...." he stopped talking and his words seemed to float around for a little until a new voice cut in.

"Oh! Grant, how nice. Come, come what'll you have?" a little Asian lady called him forward as she took her place at the register.

"The usual please" he answered her. She smiled and wrote something down on a peace of paper before humming and looking in my direction.

She seemed a but surprised to see me -as if she just realized I was there too-. She looked between me and Grant and her smile widened as she gave a single solemn nod.

What that meant...I had no clue.

"I'll have the tonkotsu ramen" I told her politely and she wrote it down before heading to the kitchen. I knew I ordered something with fish, but I figured I would give it to Grant.

"How much would it be" Grant asked the older woman when she came back out.

She shook her head "No cost, on the house" she told him with an accent.
