Chapter 31 ~Forgive Me

A learning experience is one of those things that says, "You know that thing you just did? Don't do that." ~Douglas Adams, The Salmon of Doubt

Grant's POV

I sucked in a breath and slapped my hands to my cheeks, "C'mon Grant you paid a bus fare and walked all this way just to coward out now" I consoled myself as my cheeks stung in protest to my slap.

Just by staring at the house before me my heart rate seemed to tenfold.

"Just walk up the steps and knock, it's not hard" I talked myself through. I let out a shaky breath, "All you need to do is apologize and explain what really happened. He'll forgive you...he has too...." I continued my walk towards his front door.

But what if he doesn't.

"Stop" I chided the voice in my head.

'Great, now I'm going insane' cue the dramatic tear drop.

My feet mechanically moved me forward towards his door where I gave three solid knocks.

I stared at the door, horrified. Why! I wasn't ready-

The door was immediately swung open, "H-Hey Violet" was the pathetic startled rushed out greeting I gave.

She stared at me accusingly, "What took you so long to knock? I half expected you to turn away, and why do you look like you're about to shit yourself?" she bombarded me with words.

How embarrassing...I forgot that she was a wolf.

Could she smell me before I even arrived? Is what I was thinking but instead I settled for a stupid, "How did you know?" which earned me a deadpanned look.

"I could see you walking up through the kitchen window" she waved toward the window for extra emphasis.

"Oh-"

"Anyways, I was just heading out. Is there anything you need?" she asked.

"Oh yeah, uhm....is Felix home?" I muttered, knowing she would have no problem in hearing me.

Her eyes narrowed, "Listen here Grant, I know you don't mean any harm but you really hurt Felix. He's in his room and he hasn't gotten up all morning, not even for food. So I'll let you in to go and talk to him and I won't but in, because that's your business with him." she paused. "But if he ever comes home sobbing and blaming himself for not being a better boyfriend. And if he ever goes through something like this again because of you, we're gonna have a problem. Understood." Her eyes flashed a dangerous color as she gave me a dry smile.

My heart clenched tightly at her words.

He blames himself for something I did...

My hands clenched at my sides, "I understand. And I promise you that it won't happen again" I promised honestly.

She gave me a curt nod, "Well unfortunately forgiveness isn't for me to decide. He's in his room, you know the way, I'll be back later." she opened the door wider for me to step inside before stepping out and closing it behind her.

The steps never felt as short as they do now. And, before I knew it, I was standing in front of his door.

I gave two knocks and waited for his gruff "Come in" before entering.
