~ A month later ~
My phone rings and I answer it. It is the hospital, I can see. "Hello? Yes, this is Elsa. He is back to a healthy weight? That's wonderful! And his heart is almost up to it's normal strength? That's amazing."
Jack became conscious 2 weeks ago, but he needed a lot of help at first. He remained in a special part of the hospital, and now the nurses are telling me that he is ready to come out. It will be awkward, for me and for him, I think. I've been with Michael for almost 2 months now, and therefore I know that I have moved on. For the first 4 weeks I was thinking about Jack a lot, but Flee coming made me realise that Jack no longer needed me. He had his sister, and he should be happy with her. I'm not afraid of Jack any more, because he has no reason to hurt me. He can't dump me, because when I see him again, I will start talking to him about the divorce papers. I am moving on, and he'll be able to move on too. Rapunzel will no doubt want to be with someone, and that someone will be Jack.
Punzie was my best friend, but then she turned to my enemy. She loved Jack, but now I don't mind that. It's just right for her to have someone. My new best friend Lily is going strong with Eugene, Punzie's ex-boyfriend, so Rapunzel is now kind of on the outside. She deserves Jack, and he deserves her.
"Right, OK. I'll come to the hospital, with Flee." I disconnect the call, and get ready to tell Flee. Felicity Frost and her dad have stayed at our house for a month now, because Jack wasn't looking too great when they came. Our house is busy, because we have Michael, Lily, my four children, Michael's two children, Flee, her parents, and me. It's lucky Michael is a reasonably wealthy person, and he loves camping, because if not, we wouldn't be able to fit everyone. Michael, Jewel and I are in one room, then Lily, Tyler and Michael's children are in the other. Maya and Amber and Flee are in another room (it turns out that Flee has always wanted little siblings, so it's great for her!) and then the parents are in the next.
"Flee! Jack's coming out of hospital today! Get ready, quickly! Lily and Michael, look after all the kids! Hurry, Flee, you don't want to miss this!"
In half an hour, we are at the hospital and watching Jack be dismissed. Flee hugs Jack happily and says that she is glad that they can finally be together. He nods and then his eyes fall on me. He looks at the ground and his cheeks go red. "H-hi... Elsa..." he greets me, and I nod.
"It's good to see that you are well," I offer, and he bites his lip but smiles slightly.
"Thanks... I see that you are well too..."
"Very much so..." I reply. My stomach feels slightly queasy, but I try to forget it.
"Um... are you still living with... that guy...?"
I nod, "I am, yes..." I feel a sick taste in my mouth but I'm sure it's nothing...
"How's it going with... him...?" Jack asks, and I shrug.
"It's good..." I have been feeling the sickness for a week now, but now it's really starting to kick in.
"Are you... feeling OK? You look pale, Ellie..." Flee tells me, and I blink a few times.
"I thought I would hold it in better this time..." I say, and I back away to the wall where I can sit down.
"Hold... what this time?" Jack questions, and he looks down at me. Then he realises. "No, Elsa, you haven't... oh... why did I lie to you? I guess I should tell you the truth..."
"No, I can't... hear it now," I reply, and put a hand on my stomach. "And I've got a bug, I think... It's nothing, really. Just a short-time sickness..." But he's had to deal with it 4 times already, so he knows that it isn't a bug.
"Elsa, don't lie to me. You should get to the bathroom, before you ruin the hospital floor."
Flee doesn't understand, unlike Jack. "Can someone explain what's going on?"
Jack looks at me and sighs. "It's just a bug, as Elsa said. Flee, get someone will you? Maybe they'll be able to take a look at her..." He waits until she is safely out of the way and then sits next to me. "So, will you say it now? I'm not an idiot, Elsa, the symptoms are clear. You're feeling sick, you're looking pale, and you've gotten bigger than you were 2 months ago. You've done it, haven't you?"
I shake my head. I have to keep it in for longer.
"Fine, if you won't say anything, I'll have to ask you directly. Are you having a baby with this Michael guy?" As Jack says the words, he knows that he's lost me.
"Alright, if you want the truth, I'll say it." I take a deep breath. "I'm having a child, yes, with Michael. I'm 2 months pregnant."
