Thirteen; Sorrow

Jack's eyes misted up and I looked at Anna and Kristoff helplessly. I glanced back at Jack to see that he was crying, that the tears were sliding down his pale face. "Jack? Don't cry," I whispered, and sat next to him. He looked up at me with sorrow in his eyes.

"I'm such a fool, Elsa, I killed my parents, and I almost killed you too," he replied.

I thought about my words carefully this time. "I don't care that you're a fool, I'm still here. You haven't killed me, and you cannot blame yourself for what happened with your parents."

Jack's POV

I stared at her, unsure what to think anymore. Why would she try to kill herself if she didn't like me?

"Elsa, I'm sorry for how I treated you, I really am. Can we be friends again?"

"Just friends?" she asked, looking shocked.

"Are you saying that you want to be my flower again?" I asked, and she smiled. She put her hands on my face and wiped away all my tears, and suddenly I didn't care that I was in this bed. I was with the girl I loved, and that was all I could ask for.

"I love you more than anything in the world. You're my rose," she told me, and I shook my head.

"No, you're the rose, and I'm the stem. We can't live without each other," I grinned, and Elsa nodded. She glanced over at Anna and her boyfriend.

"Uh, Anna and Kristoff? Can we be alone now?" Elsa asked them, and her sister nodded.

"I think we are okay to leave. She can't come under any harm anymore." They left the hospital room and we grinned at each other.

"Can I kiss you  this time?" My question didn't need to be answered, because she wrapped her arms around me and brushed her lips against mine.

**********

After almost a week and a half, my arm was healed enough to be put in a cast and I was allowed to return home.

"Jack? Would... would you like to stay for a while at my place? Your house must get lonely, without your mum or dad."

"As long as you don't slam any doors," I joked, and Elsa shook her head and rolled her eyes.

"I don't think I even care if you see anything. It's just like you seeing me in a swimsuit, I wouldn't mind that," she pointed out and I agreed with her.

"Oh well, it's happened now, let's not dwell over the past! And I can't wait to spend the holidays with you, El, because by the time they come around, my arm will be fully healed!"

"That's amazing news!" she smiled, and we entered her home together.

Elsa's POV

"Hey, Jack, do you have any accounts on your phone?"

"What do you mean? Like websites?"

"Yes, I suppose. Ones where you talk to people. I check mine a lot more than I do texts so we can talk more often."

"What about this one?" he asked, and showed me his phone.

"I'm on there too!" I told him, "I'm Elsasparkles! And... you are FrostieJack? I'll add you!" I sent a friend request to him, and looked in my inbox. There was a message there from someone I didn't know. I read it and froze, because it was the meanest thing that could have been sent to me at this time.

Hey, little sparkly Elsa! Why did you get your little cold hearted boyfriend back again? You are a loser, and your disorder should have stayed with you for the rest of your life.

I must have looked horrified for a while, because Jack shook my shoulders and asked me if anything was wrong. I shook my head, terrified that if he knew about it he would leave me again.

"El, can I see your profile on your phone? My phone's got no battery left..."

"I suppose..." I replied, giving the phone to him and hoping that he wouldn't see the message.

"What's this?" he asked, "Little sparkly Elsa? Cold hearted boyfriend? Disorder? Loser? The rest of your life? Tell me, if there's something wrong!"

"It came just now, I don't know where it is from or who sent it."

"You have to delete it, anyway," he told me, and pressed the little button. "See? It's gone, nothing to worry about, rose."

"Thank you," I smiled and he kissed my forehead and told me that everything was fine. Despite everything that he had done to reassure me, I still was unsure if that was the end of it all.

"Hey, flower, we haven't yet been on a date..." he told me, his eyes twinkling.

"What did you have in mind then?" I replied, grinning at the thought of spending time with him at a special place.

"Why don't we go to the restaurant on the corner?"

"I'd love that," I said, smiling, "When?"

"As soon as possible!" he looked deep in thought for a moment. "The day after tomorrow?"

"Of course!"

"And, flower, can I ask you something?"

I frowned slightly. "What is it?"

"Well I know we haven't been dating very long... but I don't want to ever break up with you again... and I want to spend the rest of my life with you..."

"Jack... I love you, honestly, I do... but we're too young -  I can't marry you!" I bit my lip, and I knew that what I had said would break his heart, but I couldn't commit to a life with him, not yet. It was too soon, and I didn't know what I wanted.

He looked away and everything was silent for a few moments, but then he spoke quietly, "Maybe this night wasn't such a good idea after all... I'll see myself out..."

"Jack! Jack!" But despite of all my pleadings for him to stay, he opened the door and left my home and I felt empty once again.
