I was walking with the marauders back to the castle with Sirius's arm around my shoulders.

"Thanks for stepping in Sirius," I said quietly looking at him, "I didn't know he was like that."

"It's okay claws," Sirius said gently squeezing my shoulders.

"So does this mean you're not mad at us anymore," James asked casually.

I put a thinking face on, "I'm not made at Sirius, Remus, or Peter.  James you're still a prick."

He pouted, "Not fair."

"Life's not fair," I said shrugging making the other boys laugh.

"I've missed you Claws," Sirius chortled and drug me over to kiss my temple making me blush.

"Yea I guess I've missed you too Sirius," I said making myself look pained.

Sirius feigned shock, "Anne really does care!!!"

I laughed and pushed him off, " so what have you boys been up to?"

"Remus is making a map to stalk people," Peter said munching on a licorice wand.

Remus's face turned blood red and he spat out, "that's...no....i'm...wha..NO!"

He stopped spluttering and calmed down and explained, "It's not a map to stalk people, it's a map to help us prank and sneak around without getting caught."

"Sounds smart but very difficult," I said thoughtfully.

"You're telling me," Sirius said groaning, "I'm about sick of the library."

"Maybe you and I can discuss the map tonight as well Remus?" I offered making all the guys look at Remus and I curiously.

"Do you two have prefects rounds tonight?" James asked confused.

"No we are gonna have dinner in the kitchens tonight and talk," I answered.

Sirius smirked, "sure... talking..."

I hit him, "get your mind out the gutter."

Come dinner time I met up with Remus and we walked down to the kitchens.

When we arrived we both sat down and ordered our food and started catching up on missed time.

"So what all have you gotten finished for this map so far?" I questioned curiously.

Remus blushed, "we have the concept, we know we want it to show all of Hogwarts including secret passages, we also want it to show where everyone is every minute of every day."

"If that's the case then you might want a password or something to make it to were only we can open it," I said, "otherwise you'd probably get into a lot of trouble for possessing it."

"I don't mean to be rude Anne because that's a wonderful idea... but that's not what I wanted to talk to you about," Remus said sheepishly.

"Oh... okay, what did you want to talk about?" I asked.

Remus grabbed my hand and said, "I know I've been distant with you ever since you told me you liked me, and I just wanted to give you an honest answer because I kinda left you hanging."

I nodded starting to feel giddy inside at the feel of his hand in mine, "yes?"

Remus smiled weakly and took a deep breath, "I just wanted you to know I do feel the same about you."

I smiled happily squeezing his hand, "Do you really?"

He nodded, "Yes, that's why I've been distant with you Anne.  We could never be anything more then friends.  With my... condition, there is just too many risks, I don't want to hold you back from having a real relationship."

I looked fondly at him and leaned forward to put a hand on his cheek, "Remus you know how I feel about your condition.  I do not care about that, I just care about you.  The only way you'd be holding me back from a real relationship is by letting your insecurities get in the way."

I leaned forward and gently placed my lips on his.  He hesitantly started to kiss me back.  He brought his shaking hands up to hold my face in place before pulling away.

"Anne..  I can't do this..." and with that he let go of my face and walked out the kitchen.

I felt myself get teary eyed and stood up, I thanked the elves before making my way back to the common room.

When I arrived in the common room I could feel the tears start to fall.

The only people sat in the common room tonight were Sirius and James who were whispering and looking at the stairs towards the boys dormitory.

When they heard the portrait swing open they looked over and noticed me standing there and stood up when they noticed my face.

James walked up to me with Sirius tailing after him.

"What happened? Are you okay? Why did Moony run straight into our dorms?" James said spitting question after question at me.

Sirius noticing me getting flustered, put a hand on James's shoulder, "James mate, why don't you go upstairs and talk to Moony?"

James hesitated before sending me a weak smile and agreeing.

I muttered a, "thanks," to Sirius before making my way to the couch and flopping down.

Sirius shortly joined me and I picked up my head so I could lay it on his lap.

We stayed silent for a few moments before Sirius finally spoke, "What happened Anne?"

"He told me how he felt," I said, my voice cracking, "Then he said we couldn't be together because of his condition, and that he was holding me back."

Sirius starting running his fingers through my hair gently to calm me down.

"What did you say?" Sirius asked curiously.

"I told him I didn't care," I said quietly,  "and then I kissed him and he kissed back."

Sirius stilled his hands for a minute before continuing, "Then what's the problem Claws?"

I felt myself getting worked up again, "He pulled away and told me he couldn't do this, then ran."

It was silent for a minute before I spoke again, "I think I love him Sirius."

"I know Anne," Sirius responded quietly.

"Why does this all have to be so difficult?" I asked ask I relished in the feel of my hair being played with.

"Anne if loving someone was easy, it wouldn't be an adventure," Sirius responded.

I felt myself tear up, "Loving someone sucks Padfoot."

"Indeed it does Claws."
