I sat curled up on the couch with a scorching cup of tea warming my hands and a book floating in front of my face.
I read the final page of the book and smiled in satisfaction lifting a finger and tracing it down to carefully set down my book. I took a sip of my tea and hummed in delight.
James laid in the back hair next to me tossing a rubber ball up and catching it, "I still want you to teach me that."
"It's only wingardium leviosa wandless, first year spell, 5th year wandless magic course," I responded smugly.
"Shut up, just because you're an overachiever doesn't mean the rest of us are," James sassed.
*Knock Knock knock*
"James honey could you get that?" We heard mum call from the kitchen.
"Doing summer reading mum!" Jane's called back still tossing the ball.
"Anne honey fo you mind?" Mum called again making me glare at James and stand up making my way towards the door.
I opened the door and went to greet the person standing their when my breath caught in my throat.
There stood Sirius trunk in one hand, bag hung from the opposite shoulder. His clothes covered with dirt and blood, bruises spreading across his knuckle, a swollen lip, an eye blacker than his last name, and last of all tears streaming down his face.
"Sirius..." I gasped, "What on earth happened."
"I tried to stop him Anne..." Sirius sniffed, "...he's too far gone, our parents, they've poisoned his mind."
I stepped forward wrapping my arms around him and pulling him into a hug, "Sirius... what happened?"
He sniffed one last time before he managed out, "Regulus... he's one of his followers... a death eater."
"Anne honey what's wrong?" I heard my mum's voice as she came into sight and then gasped, "Sirius darling what on earth happened?"
"I'm sorry Mrs Potter, I didn't know where else to go. I ran away, I couldn't take it anymore in that house," Sirius sniffed pulling away from me and looking down in embarrassment.
"Don't be silly Sirius, you are welcome here anytime," mum said, "truth be told you are my favorite child."
"That's her way of saying 'Welcome to the Potter Family' she told that to me too when I was born, James however, was not that special," I said sarcastically making Sirius laugh and James gasp at the insult.
"Come on," I said gently grabbing Sirius's hand, "you go shower and put your stuff in your room and I get you a cup of tea."
I sent Sirius off upstairs and went into the kitchen grabbing a cup and making his tea.
I looked out the corner of my eye to see mum leaning against the sink looking at me with lifted eyebrows. I groaned and turned around, "what now mum?"
She shrugged, "Nothing... you and Sirius just seem... cozy, that's all."
"Mum!" I groaned turning to grab the tea.
"Oh don't get so embarrassed, it was around your age that I started getting more aware of my needs," she said shrugging and turning around to wash dishes, "Can't say I blame you, Sirius is indeed an attractive man, and has the best manner. Not to mention my grandchildren would be gorgeous..."
"MUM!" I screeched making her giggle and James snort from the other room, "You know what, I don't need this so I'm just gonna bring Sirius his tea."
I walked up the stairs and knocked gently on the door hearing Sirius say, "Come in!"
I walked in to see Sirius standing there with just a white towel slung around his waist and another one in his hands drying his hair off.
I blushed red and started stuttering, "Oh.. I'm.. sorry... just leave..."
"No it's okay stay... just shut the door, I can change in the bathroom," I nodded still red and shut the door trying to avert my eyes to anywhere but him.
"So have you heard from Remus any this summer?" Sirius asked me.
"Ummm... no... we aren't exactly on speaking terms at the moment," I said nervously.
"Right.." Sirius nodded, "James said the break up was bad."
"James also needs to learn to keep his mouth shut apparently," I muttered bitterly.
Sirius walked up to me putting a hand on my chin tilting my face up, "He was just worried about you, he thought maybe I could bring you out of this funk."
I smiled weakly, "You always had the tendency to pull me back into the light, even when I was at my darkest."
"And I will never stop, and that,my dear, is a promise," Sirius said gazing into my eyes, "Claws can I ask you something?"
I nodded as I got lost into his stormy pools, "James never clarified why you broke it off with Remus, and I was just curious..."
I sighed and pulled his hand away from my face. I sat down on his bed running a hand through my hair.
"Sit down," I said patting the spot beside me and he did as told.
"I..." I paused, "I came to realize that the love I feel for Remus and Romantic love are two very different things."
Sirius raised an eyebrow, "care to elaborate?"
"With Remus I do love him, I love being around him, I love talking to him, I love how close we are, but I can't see myself loving him pass that," I explained, "He's a safe choice... but isn't love suppose to be an adventure?"
"I dont disagree with you there," Sirius said staring at me, "So did you experience it with anyone Anne?"
I stared into his eyes as I noticed him starting to lean forward, our foreheads were almost touching when I came back to reality and stood up walking towards the door.
"You need to get dressed and I need to help with dinner," I said flustered reaching for the door knob only for a hand to stop me.
"You didn't answer my question," Sirius said in husky voice making me breath hard and lay my head against the cool wood of the door, "Did. You. Experience. It?"
I gave a short bitter laugh, "You should already know that answer Padfoot."
I felt Sirius turn me around, I was still pinned to the door as he searched my eyes for some form of a lie. When he didn't see any let out a breath of relief and captured my lips in his. The kiss, like our last, made me feel warm, happy, full of excitement.
All of a sudden the door that I was pinned against disappeared and Sirius and I were laid out in the hallway. His towel got ripped off in the fall making me blush at his pure naked body ontop of mine.
We heard a screech and looked up to see James covering his face with one hand.
"Seriously? Again? I literally came to rub my head boy badge in your faces and this happens!" James groaned while Sirius helped me up and wrapped his fallen towel back around his waist.
We both gave a laugh but then stopped when James word's processed into our heads when we caught sight of the gleaming red head boy badge.
"Has Dumbledore lost his fucking marbles?!?!"
