Gryffindor students crowded around the Gryffindor common room, roaring in victory and singing the familiar chant ' go go gryffindor'.
I laughed cheerfully while sipping my drink and humming to the music on one of the couches.
James was sitting next to me angrily sipping on a butterbeer and staring down Lily who was dancing happily with her new boyfriend Amos Diggory.
"This is your fault," he grunted shooting me devil eyes.
"You four shouldn't have been arseholes," I said shrugging my shoulders.
"At least you didn't end up with that jerk Bones," Peter said pipping up with a mouth full of chips.
"Thank God for that," I muttered.
"He got what was coming to him today," James said laughing and high fiving Peter.
I looked at them curiously, "what exactly did happen?"
"After you got hit by Henre, Sirius hit a bludger to him and knocked him off his broom, he passed out before he hit the ground," Remus explained.
"Oh.." I said thoughtfully glancing over to where Sirius was surrounded by girls who were struggling to get his attention.
When he finally broke free from them he came over to sit with us, "I have to say, I do miss quidditch."
I snorted and nudged him, "you just miss the girls."
He smiled cheekily, "Ah Claws, no need to be jealous, you're the only girl for me."
I scoffed, "Oh... ooookay Padfoot, keep telling yourself that."
I heard a slight scoff and looked up to see Remus glancing away from us with a red face and an angry expression.
All of a sudden the music slowed down and a song by the infamous Celestina Warbeck came on making me jump in excitement.
"This is my favorite! Someone dance with me!" I said glancing around at all the boys.
James waved me off, Peter lifted up his chips, and Remus just shook his head and looked down making me frown.
"No fun!" I said pouting.
"Hey Remus?!?!?" We heard a voice exclaim and looked up to see a girl by the name of Emmeline Vance coming towards us.
"Hey Emme!" Remus said standing up to hug her.
Emme?
"Would you like to dance with me?" She asked shyly.
Nice try girl but it'll be a no...
"I'd love too Emme," Remus said taking her hand and dragging her out.
I glanced at the retreating forms in shock and the boys looked at me worried.
"Anne," James said putting a hand on my shoulder.
"What in the actual fuck?" I managed to gasp out.
They looked at me sympathetically as I stared at their forms slow dancing uncomfortably close.
I felt my eyes water up and tore my gaze away from them to grab a bottle of firewhiskey off the table in front of me and knocked back some.
I heard a cough and looked up to see Sirius standing up in front of me holding a hand out, "It would be a shame for the star player, and the prettiest girl in the room, to not get at least one dance in, no?"
I smiled gratefully at Sirius and laid my hand in his and let him whisk me off to the dance floor.
I wrapped my arms around his neck as his arms went around my waist.
I hummed happily as the alcohol started to make it way into my system and laid my head on his chest as we rocked back and forth.
"Claws?" I heard Sirius's gentle voice say bringing me to look at him.
"Are you okay?" He asked.
I sighed, "well, the guy I fancy tells me he cares for me but he can't be with me. Then he proceeds to flirt shamelessly with another girl." I gestured towards the other couple who was loudly laughing their heads off.
"It makes me feel worthless, like I'm not good enough and never will be," I finished looking down.
Sirius grabbed my chin and lifted my face back up to where I am looking him right in his stormy gray eye, "I'm only gonna say the once Claws, you. are. perfect. Any guy would be crazy to reject you, including our prat of a friend Remus."
I stared at Sirius, "Thank you for being my best friend Sirius."
"No problem Claws," he said and then leaned down and kissed my cheek making it tingle.
I laid my head back on his chest and listened to his heartbeat as we continued swaying.
"Claws?" Sirius said one last time making me hum in response but not move.
"I'm just curious but... why Remus? What made you fancy him?" He asked me curiously making me stop and think.
"Well..." I said slowly.
"He's sweet, thoughtful, handsome, smart," I started listing off, "He just seems like the more logical choice."
Sirius raised an eyebrow, "compared to who may I ask?"
"No one in particular, he's more mature than almost all the boys in our year," I answered honestly.
"Anne," Sirius says gently, "Love is meant to be a rush, there's no logic to it."
"A rush?" I said giggling, "explain?"
"You know, when their around you get excited, sometimes so excited you can't breath. Your heart pounds out of your chest and you get sweaty palm. Your heart starts fluttering at just the thought of them. Your whole body just buzzes when they are around," Sirius explains.
I cuddled closer to his chest ignoring the odd sensation in my stomach at Sirius's adoring tone when explaining.
I remained quiet and then all of a sudden one of my headaches starts up again, I lift my head and glance over Sirius's shoulder to see an older man standing there looking at us with a solemn expression on his well defined face. He looks at me straight in the eyes and I see a color strangely similar to Sirius's eyes.
He opens his mouth and says one sentence before disappearing, "he cares for you blood traitor."
I stare at the empty space he was once standing at before turning back to look at Sirius, "have you ever felt this way before Sirius?"
He looked down at me thoughtfully.
"Ask me again later."
