It was the first day of senior year. One more year and I wouldn't ever have to face Tal Fishman again.
I slowly crawled out of my twin sized bed. In my room I had a small closet, a bed, and a small desk with a wooden chair where I could hold all of my things and do my homework. I usually stayed in my room unless it was time to eat, I had chores, or I went for a walk.
I walked over to my closet and searched for a first day outfit. I never wanted much attention, but I had to find something that made people harder to tease me about it. I ended up choosing this:
I did two french braids in my hair, grabbed my plain black backpack and my phone, and headed into the dining area for breakfast.
"Good morning Eva!" said Carmen.
"Good morning Mrs. Cooper."
"Are you hungry? We have eggs and toast."
"Yes, thank you." I sat down at the 8 person table and filled my plate with some eggs, two pieces of toast, and pourded myself a glass of orange juice. After I finished my breakfast, I headed out to the bus stop. It was only about a block away, but the walk was enough to makr my heart pound in my chest. I hated riding the bus. I always got things thrown at me. I sat by myself every day, and even if I kept to myself, I would have some sort of something thrown at me, or something else despicable would happen to me.
When the bus finally got there five minutes later, I quickly got on and took my seat in the middle, right side of the bus.
"Hey Eva. Ready for senior year?" I heard a voice say behind me. I turned around to see Tal's friend Andy behind me. He rode the bus just so he could tease me. I wouldn't have rode the bus if the Cooper's allowed me to have a car. I had my liscense, but nothing to drive.
"What do you want Andy?"
"What do you mean? I just want to know how my good friend Eva is doing." He said, trying to act innocent. I knew better than to think he was innocent.
"Go away Andy." I said, looking out the window and resting my head on it.
"Why should I?" He whispered in my left ear, sending goosebumps up my arms and making me sit completdly upright.
"Because you're annoying." I finally managed to say.
"Am I?" He whispered.
"Y-y-yes." I stuttered.
"Am I making you nervous little Eva?"
"I'm not little."
"You are, and I'm gonna make this year extra fun. Do you want to have fun Eva?"
"Not with you."
"Then have fun with Tal." I froze at his name. Andy grabbed his backpack and strode off the bus. We had arrived at school already since I was pretty much the last one on. I unfroze and snatched my backpack, grateful that Andy had only spoken to me and hadn't done anything physical. I never told any one about what was happening. I just kept it to myself. I didn't want anuone to worry about me. Besides..nobody cared any way.I walked into school, keeping my head down and trying to weave through the crowd and towards my locker without any attention. I was successful, so I grabbed my things and headed to my first class. I walked in to see everyone alrrady had chosen their seats. Since it was biology, the seats were at lab tables of two seats each. There was one table completely empty, so I sat in the seat closest to the window.
I watched as Tal Fishman walked into the room. I saw him scan the room with dissapointment when he realized there was only one seat left...the seat next to me. I froze in terror.
"Have a seat Mr. Fishman." The teacher told him. He strode towards me, grumbling under his breath.I could already tell that this year wasn't going to go very well. I was stuck sitting next to Tal Fishman and the school day hadn't even started yet. This year was going to go by dreadfully slow..
