I woke up to an extremely irritating ichy feeling on my ankle. I reached down to scratch it, but was met with a big, black boot.
"What the.?" I mumbled, eyeing up the boot. Suddenly, the previous day came flooding back to me. I gasped, remembering the promise I had made to myself the night before. I was going to change.
I stepped out of bed and ventured over to my closet. I had quite a bit of my normal clothes, but near the back there were more of the clothes that I usually saw kids at school wearing. I rumaged through everything and decided to wear this:I braided my hair in a single fishtail braid going down my back. I still wasn't confident enough to wear make-up, but I did pick out my white high-tops. I could only wear one of them though because of the boot. I grabbed my phone and my backpack and headed downstairs.
"Good morning Eva! How is your foot feeling?" Mrs. Cooper asked as I slid into the chair closest to where I had entered the room.
"It's feeling ok. It doesn't hurt when I walk on it with the boot."
"That's good." She responded, passing me a plate of bacon. I put two on my plate, added a chocolate chip pancake, three sausages, and poured syrup on my pancakes. I poured myself a class of orange juice and starting eating, trying to get my energy up for the day ahead. I was finally going to stand up for myself and remake my personality almost entirely. I was still going to try hard in school, but I wasn't going to let anyone get to my head and mess with me. Andy spraining my ankle was the final straw.
"I love your outfit Eva. You never wear anything like that." Mr. Cooper commented, sitting down next to his wife.
"Thanks. I decided to wear different clothes this year since I'm a senior."
"That's a great idea. What a great way to finish high school." Mrs. Cooper said.
"Thanks." I finished my breakfast, and headed out to the bus stop, trying to build up my confidence as much as possible.
I arrived at the bus stop mere seconds from when the bus pulled up. At least I didn't have to wait in fear of what I was going to say to Andy. I walked on, feeling everyone's stares at me and the fact I had a boot on my leg as I sat down in the farthest seat back, right next to Andy. He stared at me in amazement.
"Hello Andy." I said, smiling at him.
"What's with the boot?" He asked, pointedly looking at it.
"It's nothing. Mrs. Cooper made me get it."
"Why?"
"Sprained ankle, no thanks to you."
"I didn't hurt you that bad, did I?"
"Well, I guess we'll see how the teachers like my explanation on how I got that sprained ankle, now won't we?"
"You wouldn't." He said glaring at me. I grinned back. I was the one getting to his head. He couldn't prey on me since I was the one who sat next to him. He felt threatened that I would give him away. He wasn't counting on me being so confident in myself. He must have expected me to cower over him.
