Phil has just left the house. I hadn't expected to be sending him another text so quickly. PJ and I had just began to settle down when my phone began to buzz. I glanced over tiredly at PJ, who was yawning. I picked up to see who was calling, suprised to see the name that popped up was none other than Louise's. She'd only been here a few minutes ago though? I accepted, putting it on speaker phone because I honestly didn't have the effort too hold it against my ear for a solid few minutes, my arms would probably start aching again and I wasn't about that life, y know?
"Louise?" I called out, PJ glancing out too watch me carefully.
"CHRIS!" A panicked voice came through the other line. Shocked and suprised at Louise's worried tone, I continued onwards cautiously.
"What is it?" I asked slowly.
"On the way back home, I was just going to drop by Dan's too see if everything was alright or if he was prepared too answer the door yet, but when I got there the door was open and I went in and he's not there! CHRIS HE'S GONE!" Louise practically yelled down the line.
I shot a worried glance to PJ, mouth open wide. "Alright, alright." I tried desperatly to calm Louise down. "Let me text Phil. He left a few seconds, maybe he can look out for Dan on his way back - he's walking after all." I suggested quickly, pressing my home button and quickly switching into me and Phil's imessage conversation. I sent him a quick text that read: 'PHIL, NO TIME TO EXPLAIN, CALL BACK ASAP.' If he didn't call me, he wont see the text till tommorrow, it was a simple trick I used to see if my old friend had read or acknowledged it or not.
I didn't want to give Louise any false hope and Phil had a nasty habit of sometimes reading a text and not replying. Louise hadn't said anything for the past few seconds, so I quickly called out to check that she was still there and hadn't gone off too do anything too stupid. "Louise, I text Phil too call me. Don't panic or do anything ridiculous. You're on speaker so PJ can hear too by the way. Come back to our place, we can decide what too do together in person. We can't just rush out and panic, okay? Just try to relax and calm down." I tried to assure her.
"Alright. I'm just so scared, what if something bad has happened to Dan? He's one of my closest friends, I don't know what I'd do with myself if he commited suicide." Louise worried aloud.
"Just try and stay calm, Louise. I'm sure we'll find him" PJ shouted from across the room, standing. I nodded, then quickly remembered Louise couldn't see me.
"Yeah." I added hastily, standing up as well. "Come round as quickly as possible, okay Louise? I think what you need most right now is company - and we're happy for you to stay with us."
"Thanks guys..." Louise whimpered. "I'll see you at you're place in a minute. I just hope Dan's okay." Without waiting for a reply, Louise hung up.
Once the call had ended, I turned to stare knowungly at PJ. "What'd you think?" I asked cautiously. PJ looked at his hands sadly and sighed. "If I'm completely honest with you, Chris, I don't know. I've never met the guy, but from what Louise has described it sounds like we should prepare for the worst. I'm not sure there's much chance of us finding him, who knows how long he could've been gone for. We might be too late and unfortunately, I think that's very likely." PJ quickly explained his thoughts to me. He looked lost in thought.
It was in these moments I just wanted to pull him close, kiss him on the forehead and assure him, promise him, that everything was going to be alright and tell him how much I loved him. I wanted to tell him how stunningly beautiful his eyes were - how I got lost in them every time I looked into them, falling into a heavenly maze I never wanted to find my way out of, but I didn't. I just stood there, looking at PJ fondly from across the room. PJ didn't like boys and I accepted that, so instead, I was determind to be the bestest friend PJ could ever have.
That was when the door bell rang, interrupting my flow of thoughts clouding my mind. I nodded at PJ, who smiled reassuringly and I rushed towards our front door too let who I assumed was Louise in. I opened the door too see her tired, wet eyes and paniced, frightened look in her eyes. I gestured for Louise to come into the lounge where me and PJ had previously been sitting a few seconds ago. We burst into the room, where PJ was standig waiting. She crashed into PJ, sooned joined by me as we held a long, comforting hug.
"We'll find him, Louise, I promise." PJ murmered.
"No, we promise." I corrected. "Or what kind of friends would we be then, eh?"
