I love pretty much all the songs from POTO, but this one has always been one of my favorites to listen to. Which is why I want to share my favorite renditions of the song.
One of my favorites is from the Original London Cast (Sarah Brightman and Michael Crawford), but I won't include it here because I'm sure everyone's heard it already. For me, I've heard so many times but it's never grown old, but I know it probably isn't that way for everyone. But to get on to some others:
Michael Crawford and Rebecca Caine (West End 1987)
My favorite Phantom and my favorite Christine performing together. Rebecca became my favorite Christine after listening to some recordings of her, and Michael was already my favorite Phantom, so I just really love this one.
Mikael Samuelson and Elisabeth Berg (Original Swedish Cast, 1989)
Two beautiful voices. I have to say, I've heard some incredibly talented singers from Sweden, and Mikael and Elisabeth are two of them. They're both pretty high in my favorite Phantoms and Christines.
Michael Crawford and Dale Kristien (Los Angeles, 1990)
This is another couple I absolutely love listening to together. Dale looked like she was a little too old to be playing Christine, but there's something charming about her voice, and she and Michael sounded like they had a lot of chemistry between them. I feel bad for whoever was playing Raoul alongside them, because Dale probably had a lot more chemistry with Michael than with him.
Alexander Goebel and Luzia Nistler (Original Austrian Cast, 1989)
Alexander and Luzia are also among my favorite Phantoms and Christines. Luzia has a beautiful voice, and I don't think I've ever heard a Phantom sound as creepy in this song as Alexander did, and I kind of like that.
Anthony Warlow and Ana Marina (Original Australian Cast, 2007)
I don't what to say about this one other than I just really like it. Anthony Warlow is another favorite Phantom of mine, and while Ana Marina isn't in my top ten, I think she was a great Christine.
Hugh Panaro and Mary Michael Patterson (Broadway 2014)
I really like this one, probably because Hugh is one of my favorites. Mary isn't one of my favorite Christine, but I like her voice and I think she's probably one of the best Broadway Christines I've heard. Anyway, Hugh and Mary sounded like they definitely had some chemistry between them, and they do sound great together.
That's all the ones I can think of at the moment, but I will make a part two if there are any more.
What are your favorites? Feel free to share, because it might be one I've never heard before!
