'Think Of Me' is one of my favorite songs to listen to from POTO. A lot of times, it's actually how I've judged whether I'm going to like a certain Christine actress or not (and then I listen to other songs, too, of course, because you can't just judge by one song).
Today, I'd like to share my favorite renditions of the song.
Sarah Brightman (Original London Cast Recording, with Steve Barton as Raoul)
Sarah has always been one of my favorite Christines, and I've always loved this one. Since I'm pretty sure this is the original key and lyrics, I get kind of nostalgic listening to this one, and I've always kind of preferred this one to the key and lyrics all the others have sung (not that there's wrong with the usual version).
Dale Kristien (Los Angeles 1993-not sure who played Raoul)
Dale's rendition is one of the most beautiful I've heard, and I love her as Christine so much. This is from one of her last performances as Christine. And that cadenza at the end has to be the greatest I've heard.
Elisabeth Berg (1989 Swedish Cast Recording, with Bengt Nordfors as Raoul)
Elisabeth just has a beautiful voice altogether. I absolutely love the song from the Swedish cast, because they were all so awesome. I love hearing Elisabeth sing this one.
Emmy Rossum (2004 Film, with Patrick Wilson as Raoul)
Okay, I know a lot of fans do not Emmy Rossum as Christine. I'll admit she's not among my favorites. But I do think she has a pretty voice, and I've always liked this version of the song.
Mary D'Arcy (Probably Los Angeles-don't know who played Raoul)
This one has rapidly become a favorite. Mary had a beautiful voice, and I like the way she seemed kind of build suspense with the cadenza at the end.
Patti Coheneur (Broadway 1988, with Steve Barton as Raoul)
I've only recently discovered Patti as Christine, and I already love her version of 'Think Of Me'. That cadenza at the end is one I've never heard before, and I think it's awesome.
I'm sure there are others, but I'm going to stop there for today. I'll probably make chapters like this for other songs, too. And be sure to comment on your own favorite 'Think Of Me's!
