I hadn't listened to anything from POTO for a while until just a few days ago, so I was not aware of the fact that a revival of the Danish production happened last year. I happened to start listening to some POTO stuff on Youtube, and that showed up. The only thing I've found from the revival so far is a recording of the title song with Tomas Ambt Kofod as the Phantom and Sibylle Glosted as Christine:
I know Tomas Ambt Kofod played Raoul in Denmark some years ago, and he was also one of the actors who played the Phantom in the Danish production of Love Never Dies (his rendition of Till I Hear You Sing is one of my personal favorites). It's funny, because I'd thought it would be nice to hear him play the Phantom to see how he sounded, just out of curiosity.
I'm not sure yet what I think of Tomas as the Phantom, but damn, he has a powerful voice either way. I also kind of like Sibylle Glosted as Christine; she certainly sounds like she has the right voice for it!
The Danish production was one I had never really paid attention to before, so I started looking up stuff from the older productions. I found this really great recording of the title song with Flemming Enevold as the Phantom and Susanne Elmark as Christine from the show's early days in Copenhagen in 2000:
I don't know if they were from the original cast or not, but I like this one either way. They both sound great!
A third Danish Phantom: Peter Jorde. He might actually be my favorite of the three so far. I've only heard him in the title song and Music of the Night so far, but his singing and acting were both pretty good.
Peter singing the title song and Music of the Night with Hanne Damm all the way back in 2001:
I just listened to this again, and now I'm thinking this might have been one of Peter's first performances or something like that because he doesn't sound too good here. He sounds a bit wobbly and timid, like he's kind of unsure of himself. I found another video of him singing this song, and his singing sounded a lot better, and his acting was also very good, like he understood the character.
And also, so far my favorite Danish POTO Christine would have to be Susanne Elmark or Viktoria Krantz (her title song duet with Peter Jorde is great!)
I have to say, I'm sorry I didn't any attention to this production sooner, because it sounds like they've had some really great people in the show.
