Asriel entered the door and dropped Develyn due to his arm getting tired.

"Is he alright?" Toriel asked.

"Frostbitten, also unconscious, yeah," Asriel answered.

"Oh heavens," Toriel stated.

"Dev, can you wake up?" Frisk asked.

"Unh," Develyn muttered as he woke up.

"Oh my goodness, you poor thing," Toriel stated.

"Where am I?" Develyn asked.

"Your new home," Asriel answered.

"Asriel, do me a favor and get some clothes. I'm gonna call a doctor over here," Toriel commanded.

"OK," Asriel stated as he ran upstairs. Toriel carried Develyn over to a couch and called a doctor immediately. Asriel came down with some dry clothes. Toriel then told Frisk to get the bath water ready while the doctor was on his way.

"Can you speak OK?" Toriel asked.

"Yeah, I can speak alright," Develyn answered.

"Any idea what happened to your eye?" Toriel asked.

"I don't wanna bring it up," Develyn answered.

"Are you 100% comfortable with me taking all of your clothing off?" Toriel asked.

"Do what you can to make me feel better," Develyn answered.

"Alright," Toriel stated.

Once the water was ready, Toriel carried Develyn up to the bathroom and rested him into the water.

30 minutes later, Develyn would be downstairs in new clothing, which was one of Asriel's sweaters and some sweat pants. The doctor came around and warmed the rest of Develyn's body. He then gave Develyn a tetanus shot to prevent a deadly infection.

"You might wanna stick with him. I got word from the police that he's runaway juvenile, so he might run again," the doctor explained.

"I have a foster child license, I can take him in," Toriel clarified.

"I'll let them know that then. If that's the case, you'll be granted emergency foster care over him until he's got family to go to," the doctor explained.

"OK, thank you," Toriel stated.

"Anytime," the doctor stated as he left the house.

"Is he gonna be OK?" Asriel asked.

"He's gonna be alright," Toriel answered.

"I'm gonna be fine," Develyn added.

"So what's your name?" Toriel asked.

"Develyn," Develyn answered.

"Interesting name, where does it come from?" Toriel asked.

"It's Irish for fierce courage, that's what my grandparents told me," Develyn answered

"Wait, you're Irish?" Asriel asked.

"No, I'm Icelandic. I was born in Iceland, but I moved here when I was couple weeks old," Develyn answered.

"Where's that at?" Toriel asked.

"It's way north, north to where you can see the polar bears. Do you have a globe somewhere?" Develyn asked.

"Yeah, lemme go grab it since you're not allowed to walk in the first 12 hours," Toriel answered. Develyn soon got his hands on the globe and he would put his finger on where Iceland is.

"Near the Greenland place, I see," Asriel stated.

"Here's the funny thing. Iceland is covered in lush green grass while Greenland is a winter wonderland year-round," Develyn stated.

"That is weird, wonder who came up with that idea?" Asriel asked.

"The Vikings did," Develyn answered.

"Alright, dinner should almost be ready," Toriel stated.

Dinner would be ready soon enough. Everyone decided to sit near Develyn to make him feel more at home. Develyn ripped through the first serving and asked for a second soon enough. After three servings, he was full. This also got Toriel concerned if the place he came from didn't feed him enough.

"So, Asriel told me you were abused, is that true?" Toriel asked.

"Yeah. My uncle abused me for the fun of it. He wouldn't give me proper food, he starved me frequently, and he constantly hit me when he was mad, making me a punching bag," Develyn answered.

"Oh my gosh, no wonder you ate a ton," Toriel stated.

"Where would you get food?" Asriel asked.

"Sometimes I would act sneaky and while he slept I would go to the kitchen and pillage the snacks. My grandparents would spoil me rotten with food," Develyn answered.

"Well, you don't look bony," Toriel stated.

"That's because I'm smart," Develyn stated. Asriel then mentioned the red spot under Develyn's nose. He thought it was the frostbite, but it was completely different since Develyn received medical attention and was in a warm area for a couple hours already.

"Dev, what's that under your nose?" Asriel asked.

"That's blood. Before I left, he broke my nose," Develyn answered.

"Mind if I pop it back into place?" Asriel asked.

"You can try," Develyn answered. Asriel did his best, but it surprisingly worked. He can tell it popped back into place when everyone heard a loud crack and Develyn release a loud groan.

It would be time for bed soon enough. Develyn was offered to sleep upstairs, but he kindly declined the offer. He decided to sleep on the couch.

***

It was about 5 AM when everyone in the house would be woken up. Woke up to someone screaming as a matter of fact. Asriel woke up from a freak nightmare. Develyn was more of a guy who was ready to fight if there was trouble up ahead. He was so scared he started speaking in the draconic language and put his fists up.

"Wo til? Zu'u fen krii hi!" Develyn exclaimed. Develyn heard a cry that sounded soft because it came from upstairs. His legs were able to be fully supported under his own weight, so he went up get a further look. Toriel just got out of her bedroom to go check on her biological child, but Develyn was already midway.

"You got it?" Toriel muttered, obviously wanting more sleep.

"Yeah," Develyn answered. Develyn cracked the door slightly. He didn't wanna disturb Frisk, who was completely asleep.

"Dev?" Asriel asked as he was still sniffling.

"Yeah, it's me. What's wrong?" Develyn asked.

"I had a nightmare. I don't wanna tell you about though, since it'll make me tear up again," Asriel answered.

"Hey, it's OK. I got your back, understand?" Develyn responded, putting his arm around Asriel's back.

"You do?" Asriel asked.

"Yeah, if you wanna cry your sorrows away, I'm here. Get as much stuff off your chest as you need, OK?" Develyn answered.

"Thanks," Asriel stated, hugging Develyn rather tightly. Develyn started to scratch his back in a soft manner. A several minutes later, Asriel felt more comfortable, and he was able to fall asleep. Develyn soon went back downstairs to get more sleep.
