I had been standing near the gate for a while. I didn't want to come. I didn't want to go in. I knew that Charles waited until now to turn on the lights because he knew I'd be here.

So I stood, shivering in the wind, listening to the men nearby whisper amongst themselves and watching the police stare up at the house. I decided at that moment that everything in my life had led me to this one choice.
