Will
Strange. I thought I heard the Sheriff coming back, but the house is still quiet. I close the door to the basement with a sigh. As I head into the living room, I feel a chill run down my spine. There's always been something odd about this house, but it's as if I just realized how surreal this is. That all the lights are on with nobody around.
All of a sudden I hear steps in the hall. I turn, half expecting the Sheriff and half expecting a demon. The face that I see is one I never thought I'd see again.
"Henry?"
He tenses. "Will. It's been awhile."
I shrug my shoulders, unsure of how to react. It had been years since I had last seen my brother.
"Why are you here, Will?"
"The same reason you are. I saw the lights."
Henry shakes his head. "No. You swore that you'd never come back. So why are you here?"
I blink. "What do you mean?"
He falls silent. Even though he's older, I've grown a bit taller than him. "Will, stay away from him, please. I can fix this."
I scowl. "How, Henry? How can you defend him after what he did to you?"
Henry frowns. "Will, I'm sorry. But this is for the best." In a flash of movement, he shoves me. I fall backward, sliding down the stairs and hitting my head on the bottom. The door shuts and locks.
