I start down the stairs when I hear someone coming up. Henry knows I'm here before he even sees me. "You're here too. Why am I not surprised?"
I smile, standing at the top of the stairs. "Well hello to you too, stranger."
Henry rolls his eyes and gives me a half grin. "Courtney, I'm glad to see you."
"I'm not."
Henry took up the burden that Will left behind. He filled the void that Will left. Will's always too caught up in his own head to see what's going on around him. But Henry's always there.
"Let me guess. You're here for dad?"
Henry sighs and nods. "I need to talk to him. We need to end this. Are you with me?"
I pause, rubbing the back of my neck. "Is Will here?"
"Don't worry about Will."
I sigh. "Okay." He nods, and together we head up the stairs to the last floor of the house we haven't been in yet: the attic.
