The first gunshot was deafening. My senses are disoriented, my head spinning. I feel like throwing up. I'm holding Dad tight, like if I let go he'll disappear. Through the haze and smoke, I hear another gunshot and a scream. I look up and see Will drop the gun, clutching his shoulder. Outside the window, someone's shouting. There's blood staining through his shirt. The door bangs open and the Sheriff and his men surge into the room.
One grabs Courtney and pulls her out of the room. Another one grabs Eric. Another gets Dad, who's shouting something. The Sheriff is asking me something.
"Where's Will?" he yells. I look where Will was standing and realize he's gone. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know.
