Jase's POV

"Do my eyes deceive me or is that my sister-in-law?!" Michael can up and sat his annoying ass right beside me. I despised him. If it was my choice I would've killed him decades ago, if only he wasn't a prince.

"I'm sorry but you must have the wrong girl." Taylor sounded confused. Did she not know that Xavier has a brother?

"No you have to be her. Aren't you Xavier Blackwell's wife?" Michael asked. Taylor nodded her head.

"I'm his brother. Michael Blackwell." Taylor looked at me for confirmation. I nodded my head.

"Well in the three years I've known Xavier, he's never told me he has a brother." Michael looked hurt at that.

"And there must be a reason" I added. That earned me a glare from Taylor.

"What he meant to say was why didn't Xavier mention you?" I scoffed at Taylor. Why would she pity him? I looked at her look at Michael while he was staring at my food.

"You gonna eat that my friend?" Michael asked me.

I ate a huge part of my meal. "We're not friends." I said with my mouth full. He rolled his eyes and answered Taylor's question.

"I will admit, I've done bad things to Xavier in the past," I stared at him in disbelief. Michael held his hands up in surrender. "Okay, okay. I fucked up his life. But on accident. It wasn't my fault. And that guy can hold a grudge like it's nobody's business." He stole a strip of bacon and I growled at him.

"And why are you just now trying to come back into his life?" Taylor asked.

"Because you and Xavier are in trouble. Well mostly you." He nodded his head over to Taylor.

"I know. Don't worry, Xavier went home to go talk to his father to persuade him to remove the death sentence on me." After Taylor said that Michael started laughing. I hit him in the head.

"Stop laughing at her asshole." I muttered. He was laughing at my princess. Didn't he have manners?

"I wasn't laughing at her. I was laughing because I can't believe Xavier would be stupid enough to actually think that he can change our father's mind." Crap. He was right. His father was a very stubborn man. I doubt Xavier could get him to change his mind.

"Wait so you mean that Xavier can't do anything to stop his father?" Taylor asked.

"Well there is one thing he can do..." Michael hinted.

"What is it?" I asked.

"Kill him."

I raised my hand to get the waitress' attention. "Check please."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We were back at my place sitting in the living room. Michael took his own car back to my place and Taylor and I rose silent. Not trying to address the problem. But now we don't have a choice.
"So you think the only way for your father to change his mind is to kill him?" Taylor asked.
"I'm afraid so." Michael answered.
"But that's not changing his mind. That's killing him!" Was I the only one who thought this solution was crazy?
"Exactly. There's no way to change his mind. For the thousands of years he's lived, you think he would care about other people?" Somehow, I don't know how, but Michael's reasoning seemed understanding.
"But you wouldn't want your father dead. Right?" Taylor asked.
"That man isn't my father. He might've created me, but he doesn't act like one. He doesn't give a damn about me. Never have never will. I just put up with him because I need to get something out of his will." Ah I knew it. Michael always did things for his own gain. I would've almost felt bad for him if he didn't say that last part.
"But he's been wanting to kill you ever since he knew about you, Taylor. Now he has a legitimate reason." Michael said. That confused me. What has Taylor done to his father for him to want to kill her?
"And why is that?" Taylor's voice was laced with worry.
"Because you can't take the throne until you have someone by your side. Someone to be the Queen or King. And my father had always wanted to be King forever. And he's never let any woman near Xavier fearing that he will fall in love. And then he met you. And you didn't know about supernatural creatures so he had to do his dirty work on the down low. You know that time when burglar came into your home?" Taylor nodded her head.
I felt really bad for her. All of this being laid into her and it hasn't even been a week!
"That was planned by my father. He was gaining information about you. Your job, your family, your favorite hangout spot. So whenever the time is right he would come in for the kill. Unfortunately you getting pregnant changed the whole game, because that's when he found out about your blood. So now he can go to the Council and convince them that you must be murdered. And then once Xavier loses the love of his life, he will either go ape-shit crazy or end his own life."
It shocked me how much the Canis Lupus species and vampires had in common when it came to mates. I remember when I lost my mate. I wanted to kill myself, but it was my job to take care of our son. So that helped with the loss of my mate.
"Other than killing your father, are their any other solutions?" I asked.
"Pledge your allegiance to my father and the vampiric world." Michael said.
"That's a great idea! Why didn't you say this first?!" That idea is so much better than killing someone! Especially someone so high up in the supernatural society.
"Because I would rather him be dead. Besides there will probably come a time where you will regret your decision. And I wouldn't even pledge my allegiance to my kind." Michael explained.
"Well for Taylor's situation I think that's the best choice." I reasoned.
"Or not." Taylor muttered. I completely forgot she was even here!
"What do you mean?" Has she gone mad? No blood has to be shed if she just says she's on their side!
"My father, Jase. I can't just abandon Nikolai." Michael jerker his head toward Taylor.
"Wait Nikolai as in Nikolai Jamison is your father?" Michael asked. His eyes looked like they were fish eyes. It was a funny sight.
"Yes." Taylor said. With that said, Michael got up and started pacing around the room. Muttering things to himself.
"Care to share anything with us?" Taylor asked. Michael stopped and stared at Taylor. A protective instinct washed over me and I stepped in front of her.
"I just can't believe I couldn't see it! The hair! And the eyes! This changes everything!" What the hell was Michael talking about? What does it change?
"What does Taylor being the daughter of Nikolai change?" I asked.
"My father isn't afraid of a lot of things. Almost none. Except there is one. Alpha Nikolai Jamison. For some reason my dad has always been afraid of him. It's like Nikolai has something on him. Some power. Or secret. And since you are Nikolai's daughter, he can't kill you. Or else something bad will happen to him." Michael explained.
So there were perks to being the werewolf princess. Like having a father who is feared by a vampire king. Lucky.
"So what do we do now?" Taylor asked.
"I say we wait for Xavier to get back." I suggested. Michael shook his head. What idea does he have?
"Or we can talk to your father tell him what's going on to see what he can do." Alright I guess that's a good idea.
When I looked at Taylor she had her eyes closed.
"Taylor are you oka-" She ran to the bathroom before I could even finish my sentence. Maybe it was the food she ate...
